I was referring to guidance to help owners of pre-2009 Impact
Racing products determine whether SFI Conformance labels
present on their equipment are counterfeit or legitimate.

Any anger in this situation should be addressed toward the manufacturer, who cares so little about your health and safety, that they would be willing to lie about the safety certification of their products. Not SFI for making you aware that the product has a counterfeit testing label.

If they are willing to skimp and save a buck there (as this is the whole crux of the issue correct?), what else are they willing to skimp on? Maybe nothing...it's just not good PR though. Regardless of if their products are safe or not (they probably are fine) what has this attempt at saving a few dollars cost them in future business?

It should cost them everything. They apparently thought the SFI cert was important enough to their customers that they offer a suit that has the tag, they were just to arrogant to pay for it.
Remember, this is not the first time this has happened with them. They were caught counterfeiting the HANS post anchors and putting the HANS logo on them.
This shows arrogance and a blatant disregard for the work the other parties (HANS/SFI) have done. If Impact had their own product that others infringed on, I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy with someone counterfeiting it.
Considering this has happened more than once, it should be over for them; after all, this is theft.
