Lola T70 racr car pics
The track opened this week with unseasonably high temps in the 80's. First time I can remember having warm tires after the second lap on opening day.
I thought you'd all enjoy some pics of a fellow Autobahn member's Lola T70 powered by a 383 he just picked up and brought out.

Yes, but only for a short while. It suffered overheating and other issues due to a tight R&D budget when it was first designed. Fuel w/ high octane that all the racers used was a major issue as the Chevy small block was not set up for it. McLaren built cars soon dominated and the T70 was replaced with the T160, a lighter and more powerful car, but the T70 did set the stage to be leapfrogged.

I'm pretty sure that's an RCR kit car.
The cable shift tranny and the billet machined cross member above the transaxle are the giveaways. They are a neat kit and and are quick. They have a tub that is made from 3/8ths aluminum plate. so they are a good bit heavier than a real T70 that was made out of .062 sheet and riveted together. They also have very short front control arms so that the footwells are wider than a real T70. More room for your feet, but I suspect that there isn't a lot of lattitude in setting up ride height. Neat kits though, and actually pretty reasonalby priced.

The open cockpit T70 (MkII) was the CanAm car. Here's some great old pics (note the Stingray in the background ) :

I spent many years of my youth at Riverside so these pics are like paging through an old high school yearbook.
The T70 coupe is truly one of the race car design icons. Just a beautiful car from an era when beauty mattered far more than it does today.

I have been getting more and more interested in some of these older race cars. The list of drivers that ran the T70 is crazy

You are correct.
Their primary business is GT40 replicas and aside from this Lola, they also do the Porsche 917 and Ferrari P4.

I make numerous parts for a friend that races an ex Rocketsports Jaguar in GT1 (NESCCA). His shop restores vintage racers and he personally owns many, many fine examples of vintage race cars. My favorite is his ex Penski Lola T70. This puppy is BAD A$$!! I always thought the ex Paul Gentilozzi Jag was the shiznit, that is until he finished the Lola. They're currently building a coupe.
