Default Respectable finish @ VIR with the Chumps.

Just got back from VIR running the 24hr Chump race. Out of about 30 cars we finished 6th with possible the slowest car there. I do beleive that only 3 or 4 cars did not finish. This was my first w2w and I hate to say HPDE's are going to seem boring from here on out. One of the high lights of the weekend was that Tony Stewart was there racing. Seems he entered 4 cars for his employees from Stewart-Hauss racing to drive and have some fun. Chumpcar seems to let you get away with more all the way around ;from cheating on the 500 dollar car rule but also will let you trade some paint and not get blacked flagged. This makes for some real fun on the track. Stewart was driving a 85 or close to it Camaro , he pulled at least a couple stints himself but was not in the car enough for them to win it,They finished 8th. I had passed his car a couple times through the race but one run through the night he come around me hauling butt so I guess my claim to fame now is that I was passed on the track by Tony Stewart but also I beat him in the same race, both pretty cool. His fastest lap with his 300hp Camaro was 1:30 and mine in a 95 Saturn with 90hp was 1:34 so not to shabby. Up next is lemons at CMP, hoping to break the top 5 ( I hear they will hand out some penalty laps for showing up with a cheater car). Next time I'm putting him the wall.

Tony's car

At least we one 100 bucks for best theme.

I ran several stints Saturday night with our team (USS Enterprise and SnotRod Escort).

Congrats on placing 8th.

Thanks, Stewart finshed 8th as he was not fast enough to get the best of the batmobile we bested him by to spots to finish in 6th but we are not sure that they have added in the bonus laps as we missed 5th by only 4 laps. How did you guys fair. I saw the enterpise go off track a few times.

To be honest with you, I don't know where we finished. I was also working the THSCC event on North Course and running in Time Trials with my Z06 (I won ASP on Saturday with a 1:39). Pulled triple duty all weekend.

The only award I think our team got was the Fastest Lap of the Event award with a 1:26 when I was driving the midnight stint in the Enterprise.

During one of my runs, I watched a buddy in our Escort SnotRod battle it out with one of your drivers in the Batmobile. It was very fun to watch as both cars/drivers were pretty equal everywhere. I paced the two of them for a long time just watching from my front row seat.

I saw the 1:26; very impressive. I heard some grumblings during the awards ceremony that there was a ringer brought in during the night that was an instructor for the track ,I guess that might have been you. Do you work for a school there or just an instructor for a club. Anyway, good job. I had more battles and drove the hardest through the night. I fought one guy about 30 minutes or so. Do not remember the team though. We had no *** in the straights. So it was alot of back and forths. Wish I had a V8.

LOL, ringer?!?!?! If anyone fit that bill it was Mr. Tony Stewart. HAHAHA, now that is just funny.

I have a day job that keeps me busy, but I am on staff with Asphalt Ventures (overall logistics and event support) as well as Tarheel Sports Car Club (working grid). I have only officially instructed at one event, but I have gone through a couple of instructor clinics (THSCC and Speed Secrets) as well as advanced driving clinics (AV/rEvolution).

Nope, no ringer here. I was looking at my motorsportreg account today and I have 24 events total - some 1 day, some 2 day, some 3 day - plus the two Chump Car races. My driving is simply a result of the great instruction I have received via the THSCC student program and AV advanced driving clinics.

Everyone has a good day; I probably used up all my lucky charms for the year in one weekend.
