Default Brake Ducting

I believe this is what most HPDE drivers are using, can anyone confirm? Also, is this everything that is needed or are there additional parts that need to be ordered? If so, what?

http://store.quantummotorsports.com/...products_id=71

Will this require any modifications to the car (trimming shrouds, etc.)?

I've got their universal kit, which is a little cheaper, but installation should be very similar. You just need to enlarge the hole (cutting some plastic) to fit a Z06 brake duct if you have a regular C6, and relocate the ABS sensor (cutting the metal bracket).

What car do you have? C5 or C6?
both need a different duct to the front. one from a C6Z06 will work and the stock one is cheap!

I have these. http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog...oducts_id=1752:

They are more expensive if you get the hole package but I think the are engineered far supeior. They add volume with bigger plastic tubes that run to the holes in the airdam under the front bumper. The aluminium backing plate covers my stoptech rotor 100% and forces air into the cooling viens.

They are also harder to install. The Quantums are just fine in my opinion.

What makes the Quantums easier to install? I don't see any real differences other than the Quantums have a couple of extra bolts.

do you have to remove the hubs to install the LG kit? I know you don't have to remove anything except the wheel with the quantium kit.

FYI, best price on ducting itself (which I learned with a recent blast through a sand trap is ultimately a disposable item), is at OG Racing. Dave said it's what they sell for all racing applications (they have a Porsche-heavy clientele.)

3" diameter, at $3/foot, sold by the inch.

c5z06 here .. I can't use the stock air inlets and just attach the hose to that, then over to these ducts?

both the LG kit and the ECS kit remove the factory hub backing plate and insert itself there. Its a headache for people to remove the hub. This kit can go on easier for the casual HPDE guy. Only teh Quantum kit IMHO aims the air well into the HUB / rotor fins. The ECS kit is purely a firepath kit and that works great for 1/4 miles / autoX but road courses heat the rotors up too much. I have not personally used the LG kit, but it seems very similar to the ECS kit when i saw it at Carlisle.

ECS and LG both make some great stuff, but on this item I really like my Quantum better.

I'm not sure how you can say the ECS kit is "purely firepath"? That is completely incorrect!

The ECS spindle duct kit utilizes the entire opening, basically the same as pictured above, forcing the air threw the rotor itself. There is only so much opening there, and we use all of it! You cannot utilize any more then everything!!

http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.co...uct%20Kit.html

When we brought this closed rotor design to market in the Corvette, we took the time to make the spindle duct kits for C5 and C6's, with a variety of brake manufactures too, so you are ensured a tight fit to the rotor, forcing all the air threw the rotor itself. This was not available over the counter previously.

As far as LG's looking identicle to ours, well your definately correct there..
