Default Carbotech Orange Back

Ordered pads direct from Carbotech and the XP10's came with the orange back (as expected) but the XP8's were silver backed. Is it just the XP10's that come with the orange back (which is my understanding is the newer design or technology) or are the XP8's from an older production run? Thanks.

Default Carbotech

I just received my 10's and 8's about a month ago and the backing was the same color as yours......orange on 10's and silver on 8's. I ordered the pre-bedded pads and they were awesome the first day on the track, with no squeal. C5 XTC

I thought the orange was kind of neat to match my car, but just one session on track took care of that

So if I have a box of pads labeled Carbotech CT731 XP10, but the backing is silver, do I really have XP8s?

From what I understand, yes they are XP8's. You may want to check with CarbotechDanny or carbotech adam to be sure.

No, it's the heat that changes them.

Wait, I thought that they were heated during the pre-bed process?

That has nothing to do with the backing plate. They are painted after the pre-bed process.
