I run them in both my cars when extremely hot and during Enduros. The hooded shirt is great during extreme conditions. The secret is mixing the correct water to ice ratio so you get cold flow for the entire session/race.

Having a cooler mounted in your car saves time strapping down the portable unit.

Adding a helmet mounted intake for cool air and a drink straw completes the package!

I use a FAST cooling system which cools the shirt (cold water) and helmet (cold air). Would not consider racing in hot weather without it now. It has an amazingly positive effect and prevents concentration failure due to the heat.

Thanks! I just checked that one out, that may be the way to go, that setup definitely looks like it could spoil you. Since I have gotten older the heat is a little harder to handle....

Look for a used one, then all you need to buy new is the shirt and whenever you are ready, a helmet with fitting to accept the cold air.

That is what I did.

I use one all of the time in hot weather. If you decide on the one with the hood? Besure to make sure that it will go under your helmet comfortably. If your helmet fits snug the hooded coolshirt makes it to tight. Just a heads up!! JD

One of the best investments I've made. Oklahoma in July is well toasty.

I race at So Cal desert tracks. They work great. I use the un-hooded shirt and the 12-qt cooler.

Really? It's been warm here for a few weeks but at work we still have our snow mound in the parking lot since it was several stories tall in Feb.

We ran them in all of the TransAm and World Challenge cars.

The ALMS car of course used A/C during most of it's career.

I do have smaller systems for guys to pop in and out of their cars, especially if you are using them as dual purpose.

I have these in stock as well.

I have used the kind that has freezable inserts that you stick in the shirt. They stay cold for about an hour. You can stick it in a cooler of ice water and it will "freeze" at 50 degrees and stay solid (and cold) for a while.

So add Jack Daniels with your water for your drink straw? Doesn't sound safe.
