Frank Gonzalez Bench Update -- This forum is packed with good-hearted people!
Dear Forum Members,
I am posting this thread to:
1) update those who have already generously donated in the effort of erecting a Bench at the National Corvette Museum in memory of Frank Gonzalez as to where the project stands.
2) allow the opportunity for those who may not have heard about Frank Gonzalez passing away and would still like to participate.
I'm deeply saddened to announce the passing of a dearest friend to us all...
Here's how the forum can give back and thank Frank Gonzalez
I'm pleased to report that with all the support demonstrated so far, the Frank Gonzalez Bench Fund as of this posting stands at $3,800.
$5,000 is needed for the bench so we are just $1,200 away.
Additionally. we have had one of the Corvette designers step up and offer to generate a design for Frank's Bench.
If you would like to contribute:
You may contact Megan Meredith at the NCM to contribute by calling:
800-538-3883 and ask to speak with Megan at ext. 136
If you'd prefer to send in a check payable to the National Corvette Museum, just note Frank Gonzalez Fund in the memo and mail to:
Megan Meredith
c/o National Corvette Museum
350 Corvette Dr
Bowling Green, KY 42101
I have spoken to Frank's wife on a regular basis and she is beyond words on how much you have all touched her with not only your generous proceeds, but kind words you all posted about Frank.
As soon as the Bench Fund has reached it's goal, I will notify everybody on a proposed unveiling date.
Thank you and be safe!

Well I figured I'd bat at the end of the innings on this so when I leave the mailbox tomorrow you will have $999 to go at the most. I know it will get done.
Here is a link to the benches to see what Frank is getting I am impressive. http://www.corvettemuseum.com/brick/brickbrochure09.pdf
I am very sad about Frank and this bench. I rather run Frank some more on the track and fill his tank. We had some good runs together at Pocono. I'll run him again some day he'll have a yellow one and I'll have a blue one.

David,
Thank you for your very generous contribution. As you know, Frank and I were the best of friends. This project has meant so much to all of Frank's friends and family. I hope you can come to the museum on the day we will unveil the bench.

When I read of Frank's passing I thought of two people: you and Joe Aquilante. I just did what friends do for friends.

Mike & Steve,
Onward now to design the bench and have an unveiling celebration that would make Frank proud! It will be easier this time as we don't have to keep it a secret.
