I think they're at the max allowed power level. They did just have to add 75lbs for this race. Haven't heard why. I don't think a 5th place finish at Sebring would force a weight increase.

Jan Magnussen is the baddest Corvette driver to ever live (sorry Ron Fellows fans I didn't follow racing then).

If I've done the math correctly, this should be the new point standings:

Risi and Lizards tied at 1st with 40 pts
BMWs at 3rd with 39 pts
Badboys at 4th with 29 pts

Laguna is next up. It's a 6 hour race, so lots of points potential for the Badboys.

Like usual the coverage sucked ***!
During the first 40 minutes of the race there was maybe 2-3 minutes of GT coverage.
It sucks when you are all hyped up to watch a race and in the back of your head, you're hoping that there will be better coverage than the last race you watched. In the end you just feel like you were mugged by the ASSCAR network again.

I agree. I was pissed. I was just at Sebring for the 1 hours, and the GT class is much more fun to watch..

If anyone can explain this to me...

How is it certain cars are in certain races? The 2 Pueguet P1 cars kicked major *** at Sebring, but was not at Long Beach....why?

Also did not see the lime green F430's?

Corvette have had a 25kg weight penalty for both Sebring and LB.

From john Dagys Sat. notes column on SPEED.Com:

•Corvette Racing’s C6.Rs are again carrying 25 kilos of additional weight this weekend. Program Manager Doug Fehan explained that the car is waiting on a waiver to be signed off by the FIA/ACO dealing with a minor component in the production engine block. Once the waiver is signed off, the weight penalty will be removed. Fehan expects that will come prior to Le Mans in June.

Because they showed up with a NON FACTORY BLOCK AND CYLINDER heads!!! Porsche called them out at Sebring, and the ACO/ALMS added the weight.

Sorry guys, this isnt GT1, and no, you cant do what you want and make up the rules as you go

I guess we won't have to worry about them sandbagging anymore. The coverege is still a little boring but is still a lot better then watching GT1. It won't be long and the Corvette team will start complaning. Wish they would stand up to the plate and kick some butt. They have the drivers and crew just need to bite the bullitt and get to work. Flame suit on.

and ppl think racing is ONLY about which car gets to the checkered flag first.

Wonder if the new 5.x block and heads will be put into a few C6s, vs wait until 2013 for the C7 so the GT2 vettes are compliant

The Patron car forced Adrian to bobble just once on the final lap and it cost the 007 the win. That really was a great finish..

The Peugeots do not run the full ALMS schedule, just Sebring and Petit Le Mans

The Patron #01 and #02 F430GTE's raced at LB and finished 7th & 8th in class

let me get in on this b!@* and moan session. the coverage was horrible. i saw more of the bay and commercials than of the gt class let alone the vettes! granted it was a great finish by two cars that look like melted plastic. every time i see that flying lizzard porsche i dislike them even more. ecspecially long and pickmeister. the vettes need this crappy weight penalty of of them. 75 pounds and jan still clawed from 6th to second! awesome driving! lets get em at laguna jake!

I don't understand SPEED...they must realize that a large segment of their audience are the marque devotees...vette, Porsche, BMW. Yet, not even a replay to show us how the vette got past the BMW? One minute, I'm resigned to a 3rd place finish and the next minute I'm experiencing the "thrill" of reading the final standings.

Excellent explanation Louis! The new "GT" class Corvettes are NOT "production" cars. When the 427 Cobra ran it's first USRRC race at Corey field in 1965, the FIA (noting there were no production 427 Cobras) made Skip Scott's Essex Wire Cobra run with the Chaparrals, Lolas, and McKees as an FIA Prototype (where it finished 2nd in class and 3rd OA)!
The FIA could have done that in this case also, instead of only adding a weight penalty.

Don't be too hopeful. They've already cut the coverage of the 6-hour race down to 2 hours

could potentially have been first, if not for an off-pace a-hole LMPC driver breaking up the GT race.
