Track event wheels
Has anyone had track experience with after market wheels from House of Wheels.
Bob from House Of Wheels claims that his AFt. Mkt wheels are perfectly fine for track use, Bob is well respected with the forum and I don't mean to question him but I wouldn't mind hearing from someone that has experience with his wheels.
Thanks!
Glenn

I have used Z06 style wheels in Z06 sizes at numerous events spanning two or three years. While heavier than the Alcoa wheels that come on the C5 Z06, they've held up over time. I have no complaints. I lost all the "shiny bits" but never worried about them because they were always only for the track. Still have the wheels. They're dismounted, sitting the garage, no center caps. Still good.
Thinking about getting them powder coated and using them for the street again.

they also sell refurbished OEM Z06 wheels... I think he said he just got some, so that could be another option to look into, but I havent used them for anything, so I'm not sure of the quality, so hopefully somebody else knows.

Thanks for the responses! My car is an 09 Z06 and will never upgrade the brakes. I'm not too worried about the weight where I only do HPDE's and some time trials. I'm more concerned about the strength of the wheels.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I don't know about Bob's aftermarket wheels, but the stock C6Z wheels test at the same levels as the C5 and C4 wheels. GM didn't see the need to beef up the wheels for the C6Z, even thought the HP has almost doubled. The CCW C14's test at more than double the strength of the stock C6Z wheel.
There are plenty of guys who haven't had any issues with their stock wheels, but a few have failed on the track.

I have purchased several sets from Bob. All have been straight and nice. Still have a set on my DD. Only stopped using them for lighter BBS and pushing the car much harder.

I don't have the luxury of using my great Forgelines all the time, but I have used Bob's Z06 Rear wheels for 2 years now with absolutly no issues.
yes, they are a bit heavier but a very good price and Bob is great to deal with.
BTW,
I have a set of 17 x 9.5 C5 wheels (4) from Bob that I no longer need and am selling.

"Track event wheels"
FWIW I recommend CCW wheels...they're extremely popular amongst Corvette racers. I use CCW C10 wheels on the track but they make many different styles. For track use I suggest you use 18" wheels all-around. Good luck whatever brand you go with.

I ran reproduction grand sports wheels with Hoosiers/Kuhmo 710's for years on my C5Z. They were VERY thick and heavy. Much thicker than Z06 wheels. But they were fine and I beat the crap out of them without an issue.
My advice is to use your OEM wheels (not chrome) as track wheels and then pick whatever pretty replica's you would like for the street as your not putting them through much stress. I picked up a brand new set of 09Z06 Spyders (9.5 x18 and 12 x19) recently as my street duty ($800) and they look great, paint is A+++ and no problems.
