Default Genuine, virginal C5R "racer parts kit", #39 of 40

I'm not sure how to market this thing, but I thought I'd start here. I few years back I bought a C5R "racer parts kit" from original owner Larry Dober. It is serial number 39 of 40 and has authenticating documentation.

So, what is it? A complete C5 Z06 roller chassis, straight from Chevy, with an LS6, T56, the rest of the running gear, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires. But no interior, body, or fuel system. It was released for racers so that they wouldn't have to buy a complete Vette and strip it down. A way to get more Vettes out on the race track.

I have a few pics here, but I've put together a web page with more (and much larger) pics to advertise the chassis.

If you, or anyone you know, wants to build a serious C5 or C6 race car, this is the perfect place to start. Or who knows, maybe it will be collectible some day. It currently resides with my friend Alan Blaine of Blaine Fabrication, who has the skill, experience, and shop to turn this roller chassis into a race car.

The price is $19k, same as it was almost a decade ago. PM me for more information. Thanks for looking!

Here's a link to my web site page about these cars. One of the final issues of Corvette Fever magazine will have this article. It was a neat era.

That chassis would be a great start for a track car. Price is reasonable too. You said " One of the Final Issues of Corvette Fever Mag" Is this magazine going down the tubes ? My subscription runs for about another year - hope that they give refunds on non published issues -----

No - Corvette Fever is done as well. I suspect that your subscription will be transferred to Vette. I can't speak for the publisher though.

Corvette Fever was THE magazine at one time. It had over 100,000 subscribers. Vette had abut 13,000. Corvette Fever was around for 32 years. In the last decade it was sold from one company to another. Now in a few months it will be gone.

Looks like there were a total of 42 racer parts kits sold, not 40 as I stated in the thread title. Oops. Anybody here want to build a race car without having to tear a street car apart first?

The really nice thing about these cars is that they're all fully documented. All of the VINs and GM Motorsports numbers are known. It's almost impossible to create a clone. That makes them a whole lot different from the L88 Corvettes. We can only speculate on the real/clone ratio of the L88s that are out there.

True - how many other genuine and desireable limited edition cars from the factory?

Though, building this and garnering some racing history doesn't seem like it would kill value and would certainly help resale vs a typical C5.

Default 5% finder's fee!

I'm too old to wait for this thing to create a buzz on Antiques Roadshow.

Seriously, I'll pay a 5% finder's fee to the guy who brings me a buyer that closes a deal. That's close to a kilobuck if I get my asking price.
