Default Bought a T1 Car!

After a lot of thought and getting tired of working on my track car, I decided to go ahead and by a T1 z06. This car was run by Pete Looby in 05 in the runoffs, and then retired. I drove about 36 hours round trip up to NW Iowa to pick it up. The car told me it is now happy to be out of farmland and enjoying time with the older brother c6 zo6 in the garage.

Here are some pics, I am planning to bring the car to the NCM event at VIR so my 'lucky' student or any willing fearless individuals will be able to get a ride!

I'll be asking a lot of advice from my friends here on the forum, as I am planning to get stared with this car in NASA ST2.

Thanks to Randy who sold me the car. It is in great shape and beautiful. Good luck with the Trans am car.

Tim

Loaded up leaving Iowa

Yes Rick, you deserve it! You're welcome to drive it anytime you like.

I'm just sorry we couldn't ride together up to god's country. I think we be like blood brothers after that !

Congrats Tim!

Here's my first tip:

Stay in ST2 to keep the costs down!

I hate the spec rules for SCCA T1, even with the new mods that are allowed, but it does keep things to a reasonable expense, unless you want to run at the top.

I'll ask the rude question: Is that due to "taking full advantage of the rules" or because you need to test a bazillion hours to run up top?

Seeing these `cheap' cars go by is certainly making me question the build of my '87 RX7 TurboII... as it stretches yet another year in occurring. Only been trying to get that car completely finished for over a decade now...

Hi Mike! Yep, no plans for T1 right now, just TTS to shake the car down and then ST2.

The previous owner of this car sank a ton of money into it, new motor, trans, all suspensions pieces etc. for the runoffs. I think it finished 12 in 05 and got parked after that. I don't have that kind of cash, so I have to drive harder to bridge the gap. Tim

Nice car. I knew I would regret it if I moved too slowly on this one....and I do. Congratulations.

The top guys have a TON of seat time at a lot of various tracks. Makes it pretty hard for new comers, but it's a great challenge

Beautiful car Tim - can't wait to see it. You bringing it to Roebling this weekend?

I guess this means we'll no longer see the Camaro.

YES, make sure you change your fuel filter NOW so you know it is good and be sure you know what kind of fuel the car is tuned for currently. That's my lesson learned...

By all means we need more T1 cars. I never said to stay away from T1, just that the days of relatively inexpensive racing in that class are numbered if you want to run at the top. It's still fun if you can find a battle even at the back.

Tim's a very good driver so perhaps this doesn't apply to him.

It's cool he bought the car and will be racing it, wherever!

Mike
