smart guy he knows a POS when he sells it
Nissan nit wit says:
his higher ups will love his comment
Look forward to seeing one on track.
Nissan nit wit says:
Though he heaps accolades on the car throughout the posting he also admits at one point his own problems with the vehicle: "Frankly, it really isn't overall my ideal in a sports car either (too heavy & complex) but it's impressive nonetheless." Never a good thing for an auto exec to admit in an online public forum.
Look forward to seeing one on track.

Don't underestimate what one of these cars can do on the track when properly prepared and driven by a decent driver. I've been out with them before and they do seem to defy physics. It's great to have another model out there that can run with us at the track. Wish there were more.

There's an article about the team in Sportscar magazine and they said they hadn't touched the engine as of yet and that the cars were production cars when they started tearing into them.

FWIW GM does have a special team now monitoring certain forums and responding to selected customer repair/warranty concerns. The GM 'customer service' rep has responded to several posts on the Corvette Forum recently (generally for offers of assistance if warranty concerns aren't addressed at the dealership level).

Melting Slicks
Up till a few weeks ago at Sebring, I would have agreed with you! But after having spent the day with a student in a GT-R, it comes very close to defying physics. The car is very impressive and and as Mike and others have said, should be respected in capable hands. This is one car that can make up for a lot of driver errors. Just my .02 JD

Drifting
I spent a rainy day back in February helping instruct for a GT-R only track event. After spending the day in the passenger seat and then getting behind the wheel of one in the pouring rain, I have a new respect for the car.
I have always said that a C5Z06 will make a good driver look great. The GT-R will make even an adequate driver look great. The car manages torque and traction so well, that you simply point and stomp. I have owned and driven a 600+hp car on track and the 480 or so hp of the GT-R just feels like more than it is because the electronics manage it so well. In the rain it was incredible.
With all of that said, I'd still never own one. Too heavy, too complex, and too expensive to maintain.
My .02,
-Kevin

I guess that costs less than, say, fixing the seat/brakes/clutch fluid problem/add your favorite weak link.
That said, I would not own a GT-R. GT3, maybe.

Seriously I coulnd't stop giggling like a kid. The car is amazing by itself but in the hands of an experienced and talented driver it's just sick.
Still, it's no match for a well-sorted C6 Z with an equally talented driver.
