Default wheel size question

Can I run a 275 on an 8.5 inch wheel and a 295 on an 9.5 inch wheel without any issues?

Thanks

Not sure on the 275 for 8.5 but I know you can do the 295 on the 9.5. Just look at all the C5Z's running Super Stock at SCCA Nationals and you will see mostly 295 Hoosier A6's on OEM 17x9.5 front wheels.

Why do you want to run these tire sizes on such a narrow rim?

OEM Standard Rim Widths for these sizes are:

275 = 9.5 inches

295 = 10.5 inches

The T1 guys run (or used to at least) 315s on 11" rears and 10" fronts. Even so, you would likely be better served running appropriate rubber for your wheels.

Worse case, you will pull in the sidewalls causing the tire shoulders to roll a bit.

basic rule of thumb is you can bump about 20mm on a tire over stock without issue.

After that it depends mostly on the tire, and the type of use.

Depends on the tire brand, the section size (30, 35, or 40) and the diameter...

The Solstice guys are running 285 Hoosiers on 8.5 inch rims and it seems to work fine.

tirerack.com has all the specs listed for different brands. If you have a tire and rim in hand I would feel good bumping one size in general. Aspect ratio plays a part as stated above.
