WTF Laguna Seca ALMS Coverage
no wonder it took a week to produce, damn thing was like an episode of Lost?! That was perhaps the worse, most ridiculous race coverage I've ever seen, even worse than last years World Challenge coverage.
I guess CBS fans are too ignorant of road racing to just watch a normal, live race. I actually regret losing 90minutes of my life to seeing about 20 minutes (of actual racing) from the 6 hour race!

It was treated like a documentary. They didn't have anyone who understood what racing action is except the track announcer in the background. Terrible job overall.

that was horrible. It was several advertisements tied together with a few sound bites from Radio Lemans. The actual description of racing action was perhaps 10 minutes? I fail to see how that type of program would do anything to introduce new fans to the ALMS.
I was there for the race, and was looking foward to the TV coverage to see the race from different angles, and see the parts of the race that I missed while walking from place to place, instead I learned why Michelin tires are the best and how the Jaguar looks fast on TV, but was really a speed bump on the track.

Three main things I noticed:
Neither the 6HR live stream or the 90 min broadcast version showed how the #45 P-car and the #90 BMW got by the #4 vette in the closing hour of the race.
nobody seemed to realize that the hairpin is T2, not T1, as described in the broadcast.
At the end of the race Pat Long is holding up the "LMPC" trophy.
FYI, here is the Highcroft in-car showing Pagenaud driving thru the field in the opening laps of the race.

I was wondering it anyone would start a topic on this.
I was appalled but it beat watching golf I think. Or did it? Drama, drama, drama, complete with background music. REALLY!

As far as I can tell, that WAS the race broadcast. If this is the future of ALMS then they might as well shut the doors.
If I owned or sponsored one of the teams that wasn't covered, I'd be converting to Grand Am ASAP

I turned it on expecting to watch the race and got the soap opera version. As a stand-alone TV show it might have been OK, but as race coverage, it..... well, you know.

That was at a different point in the race. The pass I'm talking about happend on lap 197, just at the 5hr mark of the race. Neither the live internet stream or the CBS replay showed it.

The "traditional" race broadcast was done via live internet streaming from the ALMS website. The broadcast was shown commercial free, but with no in-car cameras. You can watch all 6 hrs at the website

100% agree, worst ALMS race coverage ever.
It was just a damn reality show. F'n lame.
Would have been nice to see the finishing orders, and points standings at the end too.

It reminded me of the Truth in 24 documentary that was shown on ESPN last year. I thought that was pretty cool as a stand-alone program, but that is NOT how I want to see actual race coverage.
