Default Toyo R888 pressures on a C6

This has been discussed allot and I started running a little higher pressure as a result.

Initially I was running about 38 hot and went up to 42 hot. Now I am seeing some center tire wear, appearing to be overinflated.

What are other folks running for hot pressure and how is the tire holding up?

Thanks

I'm starting at 36/34psi cold and ending around 43-45psi and have even wear. I run -1.8deg / -1.25deg with poly bushings. 275/35r18+305/35r18 on 18x10+18x11 wheels.

That is almost exactly my setup (other than bushings) and those are the sizes I am running. I was starting at 34 cold and ending up at 43 or so, letting air out maybe 3 times the first day until they settled in at 42. However, I do have some center wear. Inside to outside is good.

More important than wear... how're the tires working? I found going from 28-32psi cold and finishing 36-40psi hot up to 36psi cold and finishing 42-45psi hot made a huge difference in the grip, feel and overall driveability.

FWIW, I also have Pfadt bars and DRM coilovers and I'm around 4.5" to the front jacking puck holes, all of which may have some effect on things.

Ok. Sorry for borowing your thread a little. I am doing 32 warm with the same tire sizes (except for 19" rims rear). Are you saying you have better grip wheny ou are up at 40 psi?

I know from before that Toyo wear in the middle. I have an M3 where I have seen this very clearly and got it explainte that it is common and primarily depends on the structure in tire. You would not get tha same in Michelin Cup or Yokohama 048.

I still love my Toyo. Always full grip the very first lap.

Ron convinced me to keep bumping up the pressures and as I did the tire got better and better...

I agree and some of your past comments is what prompted me to move my pressures up. The grip is excellent at 42 and feels good. I was just a little concerned about the center wear; however, when the center gets slicked there isn't much left on the outer either. I have also found that the tire goes away rapidly after that.

That's all I do, too. Ignore the chimes... I figure somebody could tune the alarm out, though...

I put all of my TPS in a 4"x 8" PVC pipe with a valve stem in it and they sit happy at 32 PSI in the compartment in the back. Been there 2 years now.
