Default NCM offering HPDE/TT insurance

From time to time people ask about HPDE insurance.
The NCM is now offering coverage for member days, HPDE and Time Trials.

I got a quote on my 2000 coupe with ~$20,000 in engine/suspension/brake upgrades.
Covers 10 events in 1 year (you can select more events).
Premium was ~$1,500.

One kicker is $5,000 deductible.

They do not cover racing events or when your car is not at the track.

If you are interested go here to fill out form for quote.

Then contact Adam Boca at adam@corvettemuseum.org
Do not send the form to the address at the bottom of the form.

Thought some of you would like to know about it.

I had my previous track car covered on regular auto insurance and they did cover it when I totalled it during an open road race this year. They weren't real happy about it but it was sort of a gray area. I was on a highway (although it was closed to the public at the time) and not a race track. And I was not racing other cars since it is a timed event (rally). I don't think they will do that again.

I plan on making my new car a dedicated track car with cage. They won't go for that again.

Thanks Adam, I forwarded this to many of my customers. SS racing quote is about 1/3 of what I was thinking something like this would cost.

Randy
PS I'm filling out a form tonight, if my wife doesn't have a million and half things planned.

That is the only avaiable ded. that they have. they want to make sure that you take on some risk as well.

Not sure what you are refering to...

Physical Damage coverage covers your car while on the track. If you get into a wreck you will atleast have some coverage.

On the liability side, if you hit someone elses car you will have coverage.

Otherwise it is entirely out of pocket. There is no waiver that gets you out of fixing someone elses car or yours if you are in an accident.

Thanks!

I could have used this last year! After years of trouble free time trials, I got a posi unit and ABS failures at the same time. I'm interested in this!

It isn't if you hit the wall, but when will it happen.

Help the stupid.

If I get tied up on track with somebody else, then it is To Bad So Sad for both of us.

Now, if I smack somebody in the Paddock I can see that.

But not on track?

Are you talking on your normal insurance or track insurance...

Most normal insurance (if not all) will not cover you while on the track. We have seen a growing # of Ins. Company's excluding coverage while on the racing surface. So if you are in an accident while on the track, then it is all out of pocket.

If you have our Physical Damage coverage at least your car will be covered with a $5K ded, and then you would be responsible for the property of others if it is your fault. (unless you carry the liability coverage from us as well).

Make sense??

The waivers you sign do not keep you out of court, or stop someone from suing you. That is up to a court and a jury to decide if you are liable. That's why I carry a significant blanket liability policy. I want someone to have significant skin in the game.

Your mileage may vary,

If someone runs into you on track, it is not their responsibility to pay for it. Morally, maybe, but not legally-don't take your car on track unless you can afford to lose it.

So Time Trials is not considered a form of racing?
I thought most HPDE ins. companies exlude any type of timed events??

So this insurance would cover my car less $5k deductible AND damage to property of others? Or is there seperate insurance for damage to others?

Also interested in who owns car if it is totalled.
State Farm paid me ~$19,000 when I totalled my car. I bought it back for $4,500. I had more than that in the suspension and brakes. I'd hate to see it go to the scrap yard or to auction if the insurance company kept it.

Bingo... !!

But.......... Liability?? LIABILITY !!!!! We don't need no stinking Liability Ins!.

That's why we sign the waiver.

Now, I carry a property policy every event. $75 and if I paste anything [ anywhere inside the track ], I get the difference to fix my car or the other guys depending on the circumstances.

Now two things I would like to see from the Insurance Guru's is

#1 A " Pay the Lawyer when the sissy Nub in the Porsche sues me", That might have some value.

#2 Liability to pay Skip Barber his insane Grass Repair fees?????

THAT might be worth hearing about?

You buy it back for low bucks, take all the goodies off and start again ... not a bad idea?

But that is why the policies have that "HAVE YOU MADE A CLAIM box?
