Best competiton tire beside Kumho Ecsta V710 and Hoosier a6
I was planning on getting some Kumho Ecsta v710 275/40-17. Apparently there is a national backorder. The guy most our club member buy tires from called every supplier he knows and couldn't find any.
I am hessitant to get Hoosier a6's. I hear the A6's might be the fastest tire, but I also hear their performance diminishes faster over the life of the tire when compared to the V710.
I do want something I can get more laps out of as I do NCCC autocrosses due to the providing 4-5 times the numer of runs/track time compared to SCCA.
I think BF Goodrich makes a very similar competition tire. Anyone use those?
I do want a slick tire like the a6 or v710-not a street tire with tread.

However, as an autocross tire they are not great. They take to long to heat up, and even at its peak will be about a second off the pace of the V710 or A6.

We run the R1 on one of our Club Racing cars, and have autocrossed on them as well. They are great on the track, stand up to abuse very well, and put down consistent lap times - the BFG R1 actually won two classes at the Runoffs last year.

Does anyone know the reason why the V710's are backordered? I tried to order a set two months ago, and Tirerack said it would be at LEAST 12 weeks before they would get them back in stock...
I prefer the Kumhos to the Hoosiers, even though they are just a hair slower.
I was HOPING that Kumho just let the supply of V710s go, and have built a new, faster tire that they are preparing to roll out.

I've been running the R6 in time trials, seems to be as sticky as my ancient v710's were.
Not sure if it helps you on an autocross.

Take a look at these, they are in stock and ready to ship.

Compared to the A6's, you will not be disappointed.

Try the Kumho V700 VictoRacer tire in 275-40-17 it is a simalar rubber compound to the V710, just an older design. It does have some tread for a short while, but soon wears off to a slick surface with 2 grooves around it.
(NOT a "street tire")
I just got a set of 4 from TireRack 2 weeks ago, in stock then.
Good autocross tire for NCCC, probably a half second or so off the A6, but lasts a hell of a lot longer

Goodyear has a new DOT race tire Eagle RS that is said to be equal to the Hoosiers but do not fall off as noticeable. Not sure if they are as good auto-crossing but it might be an alternative.

20-25 heat cycles, and they start to really fall off; you will most likely run out of heat cycles before you run out of rubber. The wear is very comparable to the R6's but once heated up, they are stickier than A6's.

dvandentop runs the same setup.

threshold yes it works great on road america and also autobahn, i usually warm them up in comp mode but once you do a lap or 2 i turn all the nannies off and let it rip. hold on as the grip on them is insane. i probably have about 12 heat cycles in mine now and still holding strong. that is after around 6 25 minute sessions at road america and quite a few sessions at autobahn also.
