Default V'ing pads = need new calipers?

Does V'ing of the pads (due to track use) mean that I need new calipers?

Depends on the direction. If the pads are heavily worn on the top(OD of rotor)of the pad and hardly worn on the bottom(ID of rotor) the calipers have spread and need to be replaced.

To add to Sidney004's post, if the pads are worn front to back differently, they are "tapering". Tapering is common with stock calipers used under track conditoins. Just swap the pad side to side in the caliper and keep using them.

Looking at the pads while mounted in the caliper it would be a top to bottom taper. Swapping the pads from the right side of the car to the left side of the car and Vice Versa for the left side pads will compensate for the taper. When installing the pads in the opposite location do not turn them over, keep them oriented the exact way they were oriented on the other side of the car. The pads on the two sides of the car taper opposite of each other.
