NASCAR parts...how abused?
I'm looking at a set of carrillo rods. They have 500 NASCAR miles on them and I'm tempted to get them. I have a strange crank a 1.850 rod journal so my choices are a custom set which is like $1300 or I can buy these ones for $250. I mean they are carrillo rods and are made for this kind of abuse but it is NASCAR 10,000rpm for 500 miles does a number on them. Any opinions from people that have used similiar parts or done serious road racing?

Racer
I did a video shoot at Joe Gibbs Racing a few years ago and got some time in the engine room. Their guy there said after 500 miles those things were totally done.
There's a lot of good stuff you can get used from teams on ebay, etc, I'm not sure rods is something I'd jump on. YMMV

How can you tell if they're shot or not? Can I have them magnafluxed and shotpead? I don't have the cash flow to go for a full road racing setup. So my choices are used NASCAR rods and a really kick *** engine (if the rods don't go out) or a slightly more than stock setup.

Drifting
Its not about magnafluxing or shotpeaning, its about stress cycles. 10krpm for 500 race miles + practice + qualifying is a LOT of stress cycles.
I'd really not do it.
