Default New Ring record

Zonda R, one of my favorite cars, beats the Ferrari FXX:

Amazingly stable platform relative to some other cars which I have seen in videos of the ring.

Wow, what a ride. I still want to ride with that German Lady in her BMW (or even the Top Gear van)

The paddle shifters are on the steering column and not on the wheel. they sure are tall. When the driver was making a right hand turn he upshifted with his left hand (I think was in the 2 to 3 minute mark)

Very cool car, I agree; but at what point are we going to stop saying "new record" every time one of these cars does a lap? They are much closer to full on race cars than anything that I would consider a road going super-car. Put AC and turn signals on a P1 car, and it would smoke that time.
Having said that, I really enjoyed watching.

When is there going to be an actual sanctioning body, to certify said records?

Zonda is a work of art, regardless!!

There needs to be a class for street legal cars that can be reistered and road going with emissions.

Sounds and looks just like the same car on Need for Speed Shift for the PS3. I feel like I've driven it!

Don't get me started on the fidelity of modern racing games! I play Forza 3 on XBOX 360 and you can absolutely feel the difference in the cars. I've owned a Lotus Elise and currently own a C6Z and 2010 Camaro SS and those video game cars feel so much like the real thing.

That Ruf 911 is a very capable car. The driver is the issue in that video!

Is it normal to have your legs bunched up like that? The driving position looks really uncomfortable. Or is that guy just too tall for the car?

The video of the Yellow Bird illustrates what I was trying to say above. Because the driver's hands are a blur, constantly fighting (induced) oversteer. By comparison, the driver of the Zonda seems very relaxed, and the car seems very quiet and stable. I thought that the "appearance of speed" was much better in the Hans Stuck video in the BMW GTR, possibly because of other cars on the track during the run. At any rate, the Zonda seems to me like a walk in the park compared to the Porsche.

Default Record attempt

Just got home after a week on the ring, watched VLN 6 hour on Saturday, drove to SPA and watched the end of 24 hour GT race. We planned to try and go faster than "street record" Viper ACR, but got sidelined due to technical problems.
In my book Porsche GT2RS holds the street record with a 7.18.
Zonda, Ferrari FXX, Radical and the other million dollar race cars are in a different class :-)

We had also an accident with a friends Z06 that kissed barrier on Hohe acht, highest point on the northsleife. He got a nice black eye, big nose and cut lip, car not so good, but repairable

Ps just noticed that Zonda did a FULL lap, ie the T13 included.
Got to look up Ferrari and see, but manufactors claims are without T13.
Porsche, Corvette, Viper, Nissan etc exclude T13, that is close to 7 sec
