Default Question about steering rack oil leak c6zo6

Has anyone had a rack replaced? Is it a full days Job? Does the alignment change? Hate taking my car to dealership for major jobs.
Thanks.

Haven't had one replaced on a C6 but have had them replaced on my C5s. It should be an easy job for an experienced dealer tech to perform. You shouldn't have any fear of them.

Dealers have a set price for labor hours on jobs like that for cost purposes. Will it take 'all day'? It could......it could even take more than a day. Depends on if they have to order any parts etc after starting the job if they find 'other' issues. You never know.

Your best bet on this is a dealer repair tho. Unless you have a Vette specialty shop that stocks spare parts, dealers have the best chance of having everything 'on hand' for the job.

An alignment is pretty much required when installing a steering rack as the rod ends have been removed and reinstalled. If only to set toe........it should be included in your pre job estimate.......
