Windows in trailers??
I've been thinking of putting a window in my trailer (24' Pace). I sleep in it at the track. The shop (it's in for some minor fixes) has a 24x36 tinted sliding window in stock. Anyone else done this? I like the idea of getting more light when I'm running the AC it's a bit claustrophobic.
TIA,
John

I'm in the process of trying to find a window for my trailer. So far I've had very little luck finding something acceptable that will fit between the side structure "studs". I have about 11" of clearance, and most RV windows are too wide.
That's a large window you're describing. How does it fit within all the basic skeletal structure?

They will weld a reinforcement frame around the window to reinforce the cut. Jim's Motors (Flying A Motorsports) in Missouri is doing the work.
I was quoted 5 hours labor to do the window.

If you add them have a way to cover them from the inside so if they are broken there is still no easy entry into the trailer.

To be honest the easiest way to get into a Pace trailer is the side door. A big screwdriver right at the deadbolt and you're in. The deadbolt only travels about 3/8". No big deal for a crow bar.

I sleep in mine often and the lack of a window reminds me of being in a sub. I would add a window in a heartbeat. You will want a way to hang something on it though to block sun and when the lights are on at night.
You can cut into the side of almost any trailer so I worry less about security.

I had them put the window in yesterday. I'm looking for accordion/pleated solar shade for the inside. I have trailer and contents insured, so I'm just not going to worry too much.
I'll let you guys know if it was a bad idea...
