GoPro feed back please
I was looking at the Go Pro for the car, kayak, and boat. I read some older threads and I see it now takes Lithium battery vs. 2 AA which had short battery life. The boat I want to take in to some extreme conditions in the ocean like big breaking waves in the inlet. I like to go at them then surf them in or drop off them. The kayak in rough water also in the inlet or choppy bay.. The car end will be the easiest for the camera. Thanks for any feed back. Reviews look decent on the net and the price is cheap at 300.

Love mine. Super wide angle (wider than any others I believe; which makes for insanely cool video), 720p @ 60 fps or 1080p @ 30 fps. Waterproof, cheap, very small, built for high vibration (wont turn off like camcorder does), No wind noise with the full enclosure.

I have the GoProHD Hero. Great Camera. Got it off Amazon with the motorsports mounts package and a 16gb SDHC card to go with it. Been great so far.
Got plenty of footage out there at:

There are plenty more. This is with the regular case on it. I hear if you tape the back the wind noise is better, but the picture is awesome at 1080P.
25min of 1080p was about 2gb.
25min of 720 was about 3gb because its 60fps, but it does look smooth!

They have an extra mount you can buy for watersports. I see surfers with it on the nose of their board everyday. You can even mount it with an FCS mount (the slot and tab mount for surfboard fins).

I have both, the old ones that used the AAA Lithiums and now one of the new HD's that have the rechargeable bettery pack.
They both work great for what you're asking about.
I lent mine to a friend who used the suction mount on the very front tip of his surfboard looking back at him while he rode the waves and it worked perfectly. The case IS waterproof and does a great job of protecting the camera. The new HD versions are really quite good for the money...

My GoPro HD plus some logging via Traqmate and TrackVision http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sovUtYAMDuw
Love the camera. Usually need to charge it after about an hour of recording, to stay safe.

PeOR - where and how did you mount your cam? There's nearly no reflection off the inside of the windshield, a problem another member was encountering.
Thx.

The mount is just right to the rear mirror in the windshield. I guess it makes sense having the camera as high up on the windshield as possible since reflexes would come from below.

Got the camera today and it works great. Took it on the kayak and it was nice. Now I need some big water and then the car back together I think it is just cheap and great for track events from what I see.

The original was horrible and their customer service sucks, therefore I don't care how good their current product is.
There are other cheaper, better options anyway. I like my Kodak zx1 although it doesn't have near the mounting possibilities.
A friend has a Contour HD that he mounts to his helmet and it looks incredible. That is next on my list.

I have one and love it. By far the best bang for the buck. I'm seeing these little guys pop up in all sorts if shows on the discovery channel like mythbusters, deadliest catch, making the cut and more. No other camera I've seen comes with the same amount of flexibility in such a small size and price. I've had nothing but great experiences with their customer service. Considering the last two track days I've been to and just how many goPros I've seen around the paddock, sometimes more then one on a single car, Id say the current version has worked out any of the kinks that may have been present in the first generation.

it still clicks and rattles some what over bumps or imperfect road surfaces... otherwise its good.. although the wide screen setting is too wide, not realistic to the actual width of the track.. I set it to R5 and it looks more realistic.. but then you need a convertor software program like 4media to convert it to files that you can use like DVD, Ipod.. etc..this way I can save it to a DVD disc and keep reusing my simcard

This isn't a kayak, but it is a stand up board and some cool great white shark footage from a guy up the beach from me.
