What to do with stock seat belts while using harness

The GM engineers had enough forethought to design the seat belt warning system such that if you unplug the connector to the stock buckle, the car thinks you are wearing your seatbelt. No need to short out any pins or anything, just unplug that connector. So that keeps the car from saying "Fasten Your Seatbelt" when you are strapped in tight with your 6-pt harness.
Then just leave the stock belts hanging when you clip in your harness.

The GM system is pretty good for a standard setup, and it's been well tested.
When I was doing HPDE in our C5 with a 5 point harness, the instructors would always wear both the 5 point and the stock system, but I can't recall which they put on first.
