pretty sure this lap record still stands from the '04 tire war and V10 era.

also I think it's the fastest average lap speed for any F1 qualy

That's the fastest top speed. Nobody is lapping Monza at an average of 231

Montoya's lap was a 1m19.525s for an average lap of 162.949mph.

For comparison, Vettel's time this morning was 1m22.839s.

The official lap record is held by Barrichello.

Excellent qualifying this morning! I thought JB was going to get it, but fell just short. He is getting more aggressive, more confident in the car every race.
Looking forward to the race tomorrow.

Button's pit crew fed him a **** sandwich on that one. His stop took 25% longer than the Ferrari's, and it cost him the win.
Also, HRT shouldn't even be on the track. They are making zero progress, hardly ever finish the race, and always hold everyone up.

What does the F duct do that McLaren used on Button's race car but not on Hamilton's?

It stalls the rear wing, eliminating some of the drag on the straights. It allows you to run a more aggressive rear wing for more downforce in the corners, because you can somewhat eliminate the negative effects (drag) on the straights.

....you know it's good when the race is won by the pit crew.
It was great to see how the two lead cars were so different, but right on top of each other. That is why F1 is the best racing out there; they let their engineers be engineers. It is a beautiful thing.
