Default How to remove shoe polish from a corvette

Usually I clean it off the same day I race. But this last race ran longer than expected and I ended up putting the car in the garage with shoe polish on teh paint. That was two weeks ago.

I don't want to mess up my paint any more than what has happened.

What do you guys use to get shoe polish off of your vette?

I usually just use windex and a paper towel. You might have to let the windex soak a little to get it off if it is dried too much. If it's been on there a really long time, I use a razor blade and carefully scrape it off.

OK, I give up. Pray do tell, what are you guys doing with shoe polish on a race track?

I've seen a lot of drag strips use it to put car numbers and dial-in times on cars that just show up and run. However, it is usually on the glass, not the paint .

Castrol Super Clean or Purple Power. Been using it for a few years and no damage to the paint yet. Wet down the area first, spray on choice of purple stuff and wipe lightly with a terry pad, sponge, etc. Do not let it dry on the paint and use a lot of water to rinse it off. It works very well on the insect parts embedded into your front end as well.

You need to wash the finish with a good soap, like ZipWax, after. Then, hit it with a quick coat of wax and you are ready to get it dirty again.

That purple Power is awesome at getting those black tire-booger marks off.
