Default Does Katech make the C6R engine?

I wasnt sure who developed and built it.

I ask because I was wondering what the likely hood is in getting one of the intakes that it uses..

The GTS/GT1 C5-R and C6.R's engines were developed and built at Katech from 1997-Le Mans of 2009.

The GT2 C6.R's engines were developed and built in-house by GM at the Wixom powertrain facility from Mid-Ohio 2009-present.

As far as the intake, it won't work on a production vehicle for hundreds of reasons.

so thats why they are slower...its not just the 5.5L

why wont the intake work? I thought it was just a CF intake runner going to a large housing with a filter inside.

-the cylinder head ports don't match
-it won't fit under the cowl
-it's cable throttle
-there is no IAC
-there is no brake vacuum connection
-it won't fit over the valve covers and coil packs
-it will hit the alternator
-it will hit the power brake booster
-it will hit the firewall

to name a few

Kinsler only did the early C5-R intake. After that the intakes were made by Katech.

No, Katech is not building the GT-2 engines and they have NO wins and a bunch of engine failures. I know what I would do if I was runing the team.

The Corvette Team got to the point they wanted to win in GT-1. I think they have lost a bit of that as well as losing some discipline. Katech engines would restore some confidence that is needed in my opinion and I have told them.

2009 was a Katech engine. No wins in 2010!

2 engines lost at La Mans and drivers complaining of lack of power.

And this year we saw the first Vette engine failure at LeMans in the history of the C5-6 racing program. Just coincidence I'm sure.
