DTC70 Question
A while ago I bought some used DTC70 pads from a fellow Forum member. I'm pretty sure they were all DTC70 but maybe there were DTC60 (or something else) as well.
I finally got around to looking at them as I might give them a try. I currently use the Hawk Plus pads on front only. They came in two boxes, both labeled as DTC70.
Problem is the pads are not all the same. They clearly are not stock as they are not beveled on the sides but flat across as the HP Plus pads.
Some of the pads have a slot in the compound to determine wear and the others do not. The pads with the slots have the numbers (21 MM) on the backing plate. The non-slotted ones have no identifying numbers.
So the question is ........... are they all DTC70?? If not which ones are??
Thanks,
DH

any marks on on the edge ? maybe clean them off real good but would think on the edge they would have some writing on them ... this is the thinnest part of the backing plate looking down vertical on the pad...

I'm looking at an older set of DTC-70's right now and on the back it is stamped 27NM on all 4. On a brand new set, which I just opened the box, on the back the painted manufactuers marking says hawk performance hb247 dtc-70 346-1ag11h, and the stamped markings are 05 MO 731. there aren't any markings on the sides (thin part) of the backing plate, old pad or new. I like these pads a lot.

Do yours have a slot in the middle of the compound or not ??

Howie, I just called Hawk Performance and the tech guy stated that the stamping on the back of the plate means absolutely nothing to hawk, the stamping is something that the plate manufacturer might use as an "in house " code for dates or something to that effect. The only numbers that Hawk uses are laser etched (paint printed) on the plate.

Let's clear something up now.... Are you using the stock Z06 calipers?
My DTC70's on the Z06 calipers have no grove in them like the HPS pads do.

Hey DH
First of all, I think you're talking about padlets for your C6 Z06.
Here's a picture of the back of one of my old DTC 70 padlets I use in my stock C6 Z06 calipers:
You can see that there are 2 rivet heads at the top of the backing plate.
I haven't had any stock padlets for a while, but IIRC the stock pads are the only ones I ever had that were beveled on the ends.
I have a stock of Hawk (DTC 70, 60, HP+, and HPS) and some Carbotech (XP 12, 10, 8).
The Hawk ALL have those 2 rivet heads like in the picture above. The HP+ are the only ones with a groove down the middle of the compound. But, all of mine are a couple years old, so I don't know if every Hawk padlet has those 2 rivet heads.
Most (but not all) of the Carbotechs have about a 1/2 inch hole in the backing plate - just about like the outline of a circle you can see in the picture above.
All my pads have been used and I can't see (or at least can't make out) any markings on the backing plate or the sides.

There are no numbers on mine .... these are used pads so maybe they get burnt off ??
And I'm using the padlets for C6Z !!

Thanks, very helpful but also very confusing ......
1. the two pads in the box are NOT stock OEM .... none are beveled
2. other than the slot/groove down half of them they look identical
3. non have any markings other than 21MM .... but they all have that!
4. my HP+ pads are flat, no groove in compound !!!!!!!
I will try and get pics of the two and see if I have time to call Hawk

I use DTC70's on the fronts and HP+ on the rear when I go to the track. The HPS hawk pads for the street that I use have the groove you describe. The others are completly flat on the front and would be very hard to sort out if they got mixed.
Just my .02 worth,
G

Its weird .... you say your HPS have grooves and guy above says HP+ has grooves. And I have never seen any grooves except for used ones I have bought and now not sure what they are.
I'm hoping Hawk will say they make them with and without the groove..........
