Default Broke 51 year SS record by 3.3 seconds

51st annual Bay Bottom Crawl in the Florida Keys. Mile Marker 17.

The previous fastest lap ever was a 2:26.1

I ran a 2:22.8 today for both the win and the record. I beat 2nd place (the previous record holder) by 2.2 seconds and broke the record by 3.3 seconds. My hands were shaking for ten plus minutes after that run.

I've never seen that before. Excellent car control. That's a long standing record you beat.

Congrats!

Great car control and a fantastic run, congrats on the record ! That is one long course for an autoX. The lack of any runoff anywhere on the course is a little scary.

Only one casualty this year, a Lexus IS300 with substantial body damage. Last year took 6 cars to early retirement do to off course excursions.

Nothing loose. My car always sounds like that on video. No clue why. Doesn't make noise that my ears pick up.

Ok I've got to ask, who and what the heck could they have been driving 51 years ago that was that fast?

Existing record was set by an '01 Z06 about 5 years ago. The event has been run each year for 51 years. Naturally, as technology improves, times should improve. The record holder drove my car last year and was a half second slower than the record.

Cone spacing is BRUTALLY tight, so while the C6Z has a horsepower advantage, it pays a huge car-width penalty, so getting a clean run is extremely difficult.

On my last and final run, I ran 1 second faster, but hit 8 cones to add 16 seconds to that time.

FTD car is a Lola T440 (open wheel racer). 260 HP, 900 pounds. Half as wide as my car. He ran a 2:11. All time track record is a 2:09 and has been in place for about 15 years.
