Ferrari Reclassified by SCCA
For those who have not made it to the end of the file just distributed, the SCCA Recommended Rules Changes, page 63, Item 5, reclassifies the Ferrari 430 Challenge from T1 to STO, effective 1/1/11.

Can someone decipher the previous items (related to T-1) on that last page. Is that saying all AC components can be removed regardless if we have "hd radiator, springs/shocks, etc"??
Also, is that saying that springs and swaybars are now open??
Or was it saying those items have been withdrawn from the CRB and are not approved?
TIA, been a long day and I'm not comprehending those 2 things..

I've been talking to another member about this; I Guarantee ST won't show up in the F430C in STO trim because he's afraid he'll get beat by a crowd that will be running AT LEAST 2 seconds faster next year and will make him have to actually drive the car to its limit

1. #2972 (CRB) Withdraw open springs and anti-sway bar rule Based on member input, the CRB has withdrawn the proposal for open springs and anti-sway bars." ?
If so, I read this as someone proposed opening springs/bars in T1, and then withdrew the proposal, so no change. if you meant something else, well, i dunno.

I think that refers to the factory upgrade options, like the old Z07 package on the C4s. PS cooler, bigger brakes, etc. Don't think that has anything to do with the upgrade you're doing to make the car reliable.

What about the Viper? I still don't understand why they don't put a max HP rule in for each car

Doesn't this look like the SCCA is admitting that the car should have never been in the class in the first place?
It's too bad that it has came to this, but you can't blame Tucker for taking advantage of the rules, if you had the $$$ wouldn't you?
The tough thing is that the Viper was on his tail the whole time and I don't see any adjustments for the Viper. I was really looking forward to seeing what Heinrecy could do with his LS3, but what are you gonna do. Sounds like it will be a battle between Buttermore and Heinrecy next year anyway, Buttermore Sr already said on the SCCA forums that they will be back next year with a LS3 ready to go. I hope Heinrecy comes back or T1 won't be quite as interesting, maybe Lance will come back with his Viper if no one buys it.

If I had that much money, I would spend it on something else rather than beating up on people in amateur racing just because I had a much faster car.

True and some do understand it that way, but CRB has never clarified as to how they define it and in the end it's their interpretation that matters, not ours

Ferrari won the last three T1 Championships. The car should have been in GT-2, where the factory built Porsche GT-3 Cup Car races.
And now that World Challenge is moving to real slicks I see little point in STO at all... Put all the ex-WC cars in GT-2. Dump STO, one less class that can't make its numbers.
