Default Wheels for auto x and RR?

Ok so I am going to buy a set of wheels for racing. I have a 2011 GS. I plan on using the Hoosier A6 tires. What size wheels should I buy? I guess I should add that the car is not stock and I do not care about being able to run in the stock class. Do I want to stick with stock size or go for more rubber on the ground?

First think about what class you want to run in autox. If you change wheel width or diameter you will move up into a different class from stock. If you stay with stock sizes you will stay in a stock class.

It may not sound like much difference, but lots of folks try out autocrossing and after a few events the thrill of speed is gone and it is the competition that makes it fun. If you chanage to different wheels and move up to a class with a higher level of preparation, you are going to need to do all of the other modifications that are allowed in the class to be competitive.

If you are just running some track days and doing some autocross stick with stock sizes and you will be fine.

Well the car is supercharged. So the stock class is out.

Traction is in the type of tire you get any non run flat should be better than OE tires. As far as size I use 285/18 front and 345/19 rear for the street..... the 18's were for the track.

Yes, much better. Also much less forgiving.

Street tires will give you more warning that you are getting near the limits of the tire, before you spin out. Race tires like the Hoosiers will allow you to go faster, but they will give you much less warning that they are about to spin out, and that can mean the difference between getting a little scared in a turn and spinning into a wall.

On the track you should stay on street tires, until you have many months of experience.

From the posts in this thread sounds to me like you haven't ran at the track much. I would recomend that you spend your $$$ on track time before you buy any race tires. This will give you a chance to know the car and your ability. Then after that take the next step. You'll learn a lot at the track from others too.
