Default How To Be Quicker At Barber

Would like some input on how to get a little quicker @ Barber.
I stopped down shifting to third at turn 11 and I feel that helped.
I am also thinking about not downshifting to third in turn one, I short shift to fourth before turn 4 anyway, and I think the car has enough torque for turn 2 and 3. As for 14 and 14a I think I am still lost
Here are my best back to back laps there recently. Since I have been driving solo for several events now, I really miss not having an instructor, they always help out a bunch.
Thanks for any help

Stop by the Speedsouth tent next time you're at Barber and see David. One session and he will have you at 1:45. If you could get him for a day, you'd be at 1:43 or less no problem.

I agree a friend of mine had him for an instructor there last March.
I plan to be back there again in March 2011.
After the 1:33 he turned recently, he definitely knows what he is doing
I understand he will be at Rd Atl. with there new #9 C6 car, I will be there in HPDE 3. I can't wait to get back there and look forward to seeing his car run as well thanks!

To quote Randy Pobst, you have to be fast in the fast corners. Where others get scared and crack the throttle you have to keep it flat. 1, the kink, over the tunnel and up into 13-14.

Thanks Jason, I always feel like I am going too fast into one but once I turn in I say to self-I could have come in here faster

Funny you should mention that...the time David, in a bone stock '06 Z06 on Hoosiers handed Randy P his backside (in a twin turbo APR shop car) is a piece of Barber lore.

Then he laid waste to Ian Bass in the other APR car, driving a struts-and-stick-axle Mustang, turning the fastest lap of the weekend.

Dennis - just a couple fo quick things. First of all, I didn't get a chance to watch the whole vid since I'm on the way out the door to the folks house for turkey day. I would start with later braking. Seems like you're coasting into the corners. More throttle up the hill through T4 before the clock tower. Maintenance throttle everywhere as needed to maintain momentum. I downshift to 3rd before the 7/8 chicane to get a quick burst through the straight section before dropping into the right hander. Hope this helps - gotta go stuff myself again!

Thanks Scott I was hoping you would chime in on this.
I will try to go deeper into the turns and brake later.
Next time I will try to keep the go pedal down going into 4..
First session Saturday this happened in front of me in turn 4 so it didn't help my confidence No injuries thank goodness

Flat out huh? It got so bad even the miatas and nissan sentras were coming back in and complaining about you. We told them that your limbs were just tired and that you couldn't do point-bys easily anymore because of your arthritis. You didn't notice without your bi-focals but we put this point-by aid on your car. Things ran pretty smoothly after that....
