seeking opnion/advice on rack and pinion
I am replacing the rack in our track project.
I have a BH code from the '84 chassis, but believe this is a problem with larger wheels [ and the fact it's older than dirt].
Intend to buy a Remfg '89 model 1-3/4 turn unit. Matches the 17' rims on the car?
Thoughts??? Problems??

Not sure if they moved the mounting and angles for the steering rack between the 84 and 89 - that would be the main thing to look for.
The z51 rack you have your sights set on should be perfect for the track car.
I'd mount and connect everything, then use full droop with the wheels on. Turn lock to lock looking for interference. Then at normal ride height test again, then at full compression. It will move differently on the track, but this will give you an idea that it will work.

Thanks J. hoped somebody out there, who had done this, would have their ears on, but I'm pulling the trigger.
The front is a '93, just to compound. matters.
Frame fitment of the rack does not seem the issue, it seems to be something to do with tie rods or seals or something esoteric.
The front is a ZO7 spring, rear is the Z51.
Hoping to be ready to go for 1st Road Atl. Track day of 2011, will need an instructor??

Unless I have travel or other issues come up I'll be at all the NASA-SE events next year.
I've got a 383 I found thats going into the 92 sometime this winter.
Debating on suspension fixes, I've got a wierd rub on the upper ball joint zerk fitting - just on the driver side.

Petty hard to envision that happening?? Wheel weights?
383 should but you into the " Oh S--t" ! I need new brakes category?
We have the C5 upgrade, and I worry that won't be enough.
The hardest part about our new car will be getting in and out.
Tight fit for me, with the full cage. A whole new technique required!!
I'll bump you before we sigh up, still have to make the thing run?
