Shipping Tires Cheaply-Part 2
FYI Post, an option to keep in mind if you are shipping scrubs:
I shipped 13 tires(273 Pounds) from the Bay Area to Columbus, OH for $170(insured for $100 per parcel), 8 days transit thru http://www.busfreighter.com/contactus.html
I was never able to find any UPS or FEDEX Ground at the $20-$25 per tire rate like Tirerack offers thru any source where I live.
Shipping via Busfreighter has some downsides:
1) drop off and pick up at a Greyhound station
2) Max package size 50 pounds(2 tires), you pay by weight not number of packages
3) Tire(s) must be shrink wrapped or wrapped in a plastic bag with cardboard on the tire faces(the reason is unlike UPS or Fedex, they put a bizzillion stickers and labels on their packages)
4) Parking for unloading at bus station sometimes problematic

Burning Brakes
I bought a large cobra r type bumper cover off ebay once and the guy shipped it by greyhound for $14. I can't remember how far away it was but it was a good distance.

I shipped 2 315/17s through fedex for 38 dollars.
I've shipped probably 3 sets of wheels and 2 sets of tires w/ fedex for reasonable cost.
Sucks that your local fedex wont ship them.
