I would think people go where the program they want is showing. Seems now many racing venues are split up among many channels. As for regular car shows I am sure it is the same. Hard to pick one I guess. I sadly stopped watching all but F-1 and 24 hr LeMans

Don't forget History channel now... for Top Gear USA. I mostly DVR what I want to watch and don't pay attention to the channels but when I'm just looking for random car stuff it's always Speed. VS to me is still the odd hockey game and rodeo...

Discovery HD Theater is far and away my most common car channel, to tell you the truth.

Second would be Speed, but they suck a lot, especially since I have zero interest in WWF, oh, excuse me, NASCAR.

Gawd how I miss Speedvision.

For a while it was Bloomberg for the FIA GT races, too.

Agree with the above. I receive all those channels, and set up the DVR to record and watch at my leisure. Being able to record / stop and restart watching is key for me now... hopefully the new ALMS coverage on ESPN3.com will allow that to happen (or at least fast forward to where I left off).

SPEED is my go to channel, unless it's a Pinks marathon, etc. I'll tune into any channel with car stuff that is interesting, except Vs. since we don't get that with our package, and I'm not paying more for one channel.

yes but I think a choice of one in a poll would be misleading, no? I don't think someone could watch what they want and have it all on one of the poll options.

and then no commercials! Everything I watch except F-1 I would delay 30 minutes to cut out the commercials if I was not watching it after it was completely over.

Speed more often then not. Discovery HD when the hotel has it. Vs and ESPN when they have something I like. It is hard to know when and where stuff comes on...

Had to vote for Speed, because there was no category for "both" or all of the above. I DO watch Vs whenever they show racing - didn't they show all or most of the Indy car races last season? Bottom line is I can't watch enough racing so I go wherever it is!

I voted for Speed, because:

a. Broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.) are completely pathetic
b. VS isn't available
c. ESPN is only slightly less pathetic than the broadcast networks, although they do a good job with NHRA.

EVERYONE likes to diss Speed because they think NASCAR is beneath them (kinda like the "superior" OHC technology vs. pushrods), but before Speed where did you see the 24 hours of Daytona, Sebring, F1, etc.?

Where did you find ALMS-type programming? Oh, we never could! Even Speedvision showed a lot of old re-run programming, not that much live coverage.

So much for my opinion.

Have a good one,
Mike

I voted speed becasue its the only channel that covered AMLS, Rolex, and even superbikes. But I'll watch whoever has a race on, car/sportbike/baja/boat.

I too watch discovery HD. Great car shows. For road racing coverage, it's where ever I can find coverage.

I voted speed only because ANYTHING produced by one of the major networks (ABC/CBS/NBC (I will include ESPN) would be nothing more than some infomercial. I will not watch ALMS/Rolex/World Challenge or any other racing on these channels simply because of they way they are produced. Also, I have gotten very fond of the regular sports car announcers on speed

Speed was the only channel that simply showed RAW racing and didn't insult my intellegence with produced informercial type reality TV.

Speed for most racing news, Gears, My classic car, two guys garage.
HD theater for Mecum auctions
Spike for Hot rod TV, Trucks, etc. even though most have become lame lately.
Wherever a NASCAR race is on

HD Theater is #1 now.

The ONLY thing Speed is good for is F1. They even managed to mess up the Barrett Jackson auctions which I used to look forward to.

I REALLY miss SpeedVision. RIP

I have nothing against NASCAR. Speedvision showed minimal live coverage because they did not have the backing (money) of Fox that they now have. They used to show WRC, the Paris-Dakar Rally (remember that?) GP motorcycle racing (I guess technically they still do but it's at 3 AM) and lots of specialty programming that you couldn't get anywhere else.

I also used to love the fact that they would separate their coverage into different days:

Monday = Cars
Tuesday = Motorcycles
Wednesday = Boats
Thursday = Airplanes
Friday = Racing
Sat & Sun = Live Events and other shows like Autoweek, etc.

Anyway, I think I'm getting off track from the OP so I will shut up now.

BRING BACK SPEEDVISION!
