Default Is anyone going to dare VIR in Jan with SVT Cobra Club?

I'm sure a few of your received the email from the SVT Cobra Club...

My lemons/chump team was considering signing up to shake down our POS Acura Legend. Seem's to be a no loose situation. But honestly, with the way things have been in the southeast, I doubt it won't be raining, snowy or icy.

One thing I can't recall is if they need instructors or not. I faintly remember them saying they have plenty on tap (from past conversations).

Got the January blues? Want to have a "no lose" track fee? Then you'll
want to join TCUSA and SCMC for its January on track event at Virginia
International Raceway on January 29-30, 2011. You will be able to run two
days of full course with only two run groups. A beginner group and then an
open run group where you can go on and off as much as you want for an hour
and a half four times a day. If we do not have any beginners then the track
will be "open" all day. (Subject to number of participants) Price is an
unbelievable price of $295.00 if you mail your fee prior to January 15, 2011
or $335.00 if you pay after the early bird discount date.

There will not be any on-line payment for this event so we can guarantee you
a "no lose" registration fee. That means you have to mail a check in order
to participate in this event. The event will be canceled under the
following conditions:

1. We do not have 32 participants
2. The high temperature forecast is below 48 degrees
3. Snow
4. Rain

You have nothing to lose and you may cancel up to 72 hours prior to the
event and receive your check back or have it shredded. For a registration
form, click here:

http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/a...achmentid=7523

This event is open to all makes and models and you have to be a member of
either Track Club USA or SVT Cobra Mustang Club in order to run open track
with us. To join TCUSA go to www.trackclubusa.com or go to
www.scmcstore.com if you own an SVT Mustang Cobra or an SVT Shelby GT 500 to
join the SCMC.

For questions about registration contact Tony Sorrentino at
tony@svtcobraclub.com or for track questions, contact Rick McNutt at
hazman97@comcast.net

You know VIR is having a "Chump/LeMons shakedown day" sometime in the next couple of weeks, right? Cost is pretty inexpensive.

Nope, I didn't know that. Interesting. I don't know if we will have the car ready that early or not. Lots to do still.

I did a quick check and can't seem to find details online.

I saw it on Facebook, but I am blocked from seeing the entire posting behind my work firewall.

"VIR has tentatively scheduled a special OPEN TEST DAY for 24 Hrs. of LeMons and Chump Car World Series cars only for Friday, Feb 11th!"

Go to VIRnow on Facebook and see if they have it posted there.

Edit: Here is another blurp I found at: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...-cmp-race.html

"VIR is considering doing a South Course Test and Tune for the Feb. 24HR of Lemons CMP race. It would be $150 per car for the day, open track. They need at least 15 cars to have the event, so if interested please call Kevin Massey Shaw at 434-822-7700 x104. The tentative date is 2/11/11 on a Friday."

Like I always say, the only thing that'll get me in a race car in Jan is a seat at the 24. So not much chance there.

Interesting. It's hard to tell from the post, but I wonder if the lemons/chump car has to have a full cage/raceseat/extinguisher etc. to run? Of course it will pass a standard tech in it's current condition, but we wanted to shake down the car prior to completing the cage and throwing in the harness, seat and so forth.

Actually to be honest, 2 of my teamates have never driven a car on track which is why we were looking for a standard track day where I could instruct. This would probobly not be the right environment to "learn" in
