Drain oil before tapping oil galley on block?
Heintz Racing will be hooking up my accusump I have just finished installing. Now would be a good time to change oil, but don't want to change if they are going to have to drain it. The galley seems high enough on block to not need draining, just want to make sure before I dump $75 worth of Amsoil in there. Galley is on the driver side of the block.

How do they tap into the block? If this requires metal work, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable not changing the oil. I think I'd wait and dump the oil as soon as they were done.

I think he means remove the factory plug in the side of the block and put the accusump fitting in. No you don't need to drain the pan. Some oil may come out, but it will be minimal

Decided to just leave it and let Heintz Racing change it when the are installing the Accusump and TF heads. Do need to get a sample for the Blackstone analysis. So may drain it and just refill with same oil. I guess I could get enough by disconnecting oil cooler line, but they don't leak so I don't want to mess with them.
Thanks.
