Default How cool would this be on the track.

Found this on Ebay .... I think it would be cool to have on the track .... You surely would be the only one with one of these out there.. Now the coolness may diminish quickly but do think it could be fun for a while...

The coolness factor would last forever IF it could do all the things Herbie did in the movies, otherwise not so much.

The two things that struck me were the 200 mph tape holding down the hood (trunk? WTF?)

And how bad do you need to sell a Beetle that you would take pix during a BLIZZARD! (can you imagine the snow drift in the interior now?) /:\

I like what appears to be the huge air cooling duct system that runs from the front and through the middle of the car!! Hahaha!

May be to keep #3 cylinder cool as it was the one that overheated first on VW.

I was wondering what in the hell the stove pipe was doing running thru the passenger side of the car..

it's at $2100 right now.. I'd give him that for it just to drive it around town.

My first car was a VW bug. Bought it when on the summer I turned 13. Many hours of blasting in the sand of AZ during the next two summers. It's been 10 years since it was seen by human eyes. At some point I would love to get it up here and have it around. But it's not rusting down there

Is it possible that the duct/pipe is a cooling duct for the rear air cooled engine - maybe a LG or DRM track mod .

Funny you say sometime about that. I'm doing a rear mount radiator on my personal project.

I'm pretty sure it would cease to be cool as soon as you exited pit lane :P

My 8 year old was transfixed when this came out in DVD. He was 3 at the time.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400497/

Herbie Fully Loaded.

It starred Lindsay Lohan in 2005. I don't think Disney is hiring her anymore, now it's Lindsay fully loaded.

I raced a GT350 for years that came with the number 53 on it. It was pointed out to me a few times that that was Herbie's number.

Looks like the headlights are the air intakes and the duct runs through the cabin. That"s a fairly large duct, I'm just not sure where all that air is going. I'm sure your project will be more functional from a design standpoint - if this is an engine cooling system, seems there would be an easier, lighter way to pull air. Good luck
