Default New R888's - Any Break in Needed ?

Any need to perform any heat cycling prior to track use ?

Just mounted, I will drive freeway 135 miles or so to the track for first track use.

Thanks,

Ed

DOUBT IT WITH THESE THINGS. 888'S REALLY THICK. AND DAMN NEAR BULLET PROOF

BUT IF YOU WANT TO HEAT CYCLE THEM, I THINK THE PROPER WAY IS TO GET THEM REALLY HOT AT THE TRACK FOR ONE SESSION THEN PULL THEM OFF THE VETTE AND WAIT 24 HOURS

Thanks, I did a local canyon run today that will have to suffice.

They do stick pretty well I must say.

You can't get them hot enough on the street. You just don't go fast enough long enough and corner hard enough to get them as hot as needed.

Are these considered the fastest tires with over 50 treadwear?

If they are not shaved and you drive hard enough they will chunck up.

Any news on Pirelli's new Trofeo??

http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/ww/en/ca...ro_trofeo.html

Wonder how they'll compare cost wise to a set of R888s? probably 1.5x the $$

There was another thread here about the Trofeo:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...post1576271691

But there really isn't enough data to make a fair comparison to the others.

I'd really like to know how the new Trofeo compares.

Just don't push them too hard that first day and you should be fine. Whining/singing is fine, howling is too hard.

Have fun!
