Default Anyone have Install pics of Autopower Roll bar?

Hi all,

I am ordering an autopower 4-point roll bar today and was hoping someone could post up some install pics. I am specifically looking for pics of the weld points.

Thanks in advance!

Weld points on the bar itself or of the mounting points? My AutoPower 4-pt is bolted to plates that were welded to the car.

I would love to see how the bar bolts in and how the plates are welded.

Thanks!

Well, I just sold this street car, but some pics here of my C5 Z06 which shows the trunk area mounting.

The main hoop's plates sit atop the bulkhead. PM me w/an email address and I will email some pics I took recently of the main hoop's attachment points as well as some better pics of the trunk area from several angles.

you just weld small plates to the fuel bulkhead behind the seat, and to the frame around the shock mounts. From what I've seen, the bar sits really low, offering both limited protection and really hurting visibility. Also, being mounted to the bulkhead instead of the frame reduces it's effectiveness in a rollover as well.

David is correct, it welds to the bulkhead behind the seat.

But is welding to the bulkhead "safe" in a roll over? vs welding to the frame.

Most tech rules do require welding plates to the frame of the car.

It isn't safe. I have an email from a GM Engineer that was sent to me about 10 years ago that states the cross beam behind the seats is not designed to support a vertical load. It's just thin sheet metal. They recommend welding a mounting point for the roll bar to the B pillar which is designed to support a vertical load.

The location may not even be that safe in the case of a frontal crash where there is a lot of force applied to the shoulder harnesses. The harnesses will pull forward on the roll bar belt bar which will tend to vector the forces into its forward supports. If the cross beam collapses under the added load you will get a significant increase in belt slack just when you don't want it.

the rear mounts, you need to cut the fiberglass floor out where the plate goes and it welds rights to the frame.the frount mount weld on top of the bulkhead.
on mine, the bar sits very tight to the headliner.you could maybe raise the bar a 1/4".
