It has not been the same at Indy the last few years without Tom. I grew up at Indy hearing Tom on the PA system. He was a HUGE part of the 500 for me and for many others.

"It's a new track record"

RIP Tom

You WILL be missed.. Would have loved to have seen Tom make this years big 100th celebration

"Aaaaannnnddddd heee'ssssss ON IT!"

and

"Andretti's SLOWING on the back stretch!"

Some things were just so predictable.

We'll miss you, Tom.

In 1983 my wife and I went to Pole Day. It was the custom for Tom to do quick interviews (over the track PA) with drivers as they climbed out of the cars following each attempt.

AJ Foyt had just waved off his second try and as he climbed out of the car, Tom said, "Well AJ we see you waved of this attempt. What was the problem?" to which AJ blurts out, "Tom, it was handling like a bucket of s**t". Without missing a beat, Tom replied, "Well AJ, I don't think the fans have ever had it explained quite that way before".
