Default Power Steering leak

I'm having my power steering pump replaced, due to seal leaking.
Do many of you run a different cooler? underdrive pulley?
What's the best answer to prevent this from happening?
I had the rack replaced twice on my 50th.
Wife asked how come such an expensive car leaks so much?

I have an ATI Superdamper which is 10% underdriven, Redline PS fluid, and the OEM C5 Z06/Z-51 cooler. I've never fully drained/flushed it, but periodically suck out the reservoir with a turkey baster and re-fill. I figure it'll eventually do the job.

I have a huge cooler, and under-drive pulley works great. Tell your wife you took a street car and abuse and ran it like a race car!

So this begs the question? 10% 25%??
I drive my car on the street a lot. If it's not snowing I drive it to work.
So what pully should I go with?

Thanks for the responses

For the longest time ATI wouldn't make a 25% underdrive pulley because they couldn't achieve their high level of dampening. They finally gave into market pressure and made one. I think the 25% underdriven balancers are too small an you give up some harmonics dampening ability.

If/when my pump eventually goes south I will be getting a Turn One rebuild.

All the work was top notch.

For what it is worth, I have never noticed the loss of assist...but I don't crank the wheel fast when I am barely moving anyway.

I replaced a couple of pumps then went to the Turn One unit. No problems in three years.

Had the stock pump self destruct and turn the fluid to brown goo. It was leaking from the front seal and made a huge mess under the hood. Replaced with Turn One track spec pump, Joe Gibbs synthetic fluid and flushed the entire system. Runs great. Spend the few extra bucks and get something that will not self destruct under track usage.

Thanks for the replies, I ordered a Turn-one pump and 25% under drive pulley today.
Still researching a different cooler.
Also thinking of cam, pushrods, and springs.
Where does all this end?

I use the cooler below on my own FRC as well as a couple race cars with success. Ultra light, cheap, works well, and comes in many configurations. I mounted mine in the "roof" of the radiator shroud and plumbed all with AN fittings.

I've also used the fluidyne power steering cooler:

but it does not lend itself to packaging as well as the other one. It does offer less restriction, but that has never been an issue.
