I'd like to run MOOG, but is anyone running rear tie rods on the front? I know davidfarmer mentioned it'd be good for camber, but any feet on the ground for this aspect?

But I'm only seeing Moog's for the front. But VBP does pose an interesting alternative.

OK here's more info.

Three photos of Moog vs OEM

The MOOG has a threaded hole 2 7/16 deep vs 2 3/16 OEM

Overall length same.

Next photo shows the rear tie rod end IS approx 1 inch longer than front so NOT interchangeable.

Last photo is the boot cut open on the oem and shows how the end travels in an arc rather than being 360 degrees of movement in any direction.

Also note I could EASILY move the ball on the used oem and I had to put the MOOG in a vise to barely be able to budge it, tight sucker. There is obviously wear in the used one & not the new, but man it is (new) tight.

IMO the MOOG wins (for about the same price) head and shoulders over oem.

I need to find out if MOOG makes a rear as it is not listed for my c5z, but I bet a buck they make one for Vettes that'll fit.

Anyone?

anything on this!?
so many threads die on here

http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com...e_Rod_Ends.asp

can we get measurements and just order one and hope it works?

im trying to update my suspension, stiffen up the bushings and get a brake upgrade for next season so this info would be very helpful!

thanks in advance!

Bumping this up again for the same reason. Other than the GM units and bump-steer kits, does anyone have part numbers or suggestions for rear outer tie rods?

I'm trying to save this thread as I came across bad Rear Outer Tie-Rod End link when I was changing my brakes and shocks.

AC delco shows PN 46A0621, which I think are just the for the fronts. But I can't find a solution for the rears. I'm going to call up my local GM dealership tomorrow and see if they have an answer.

Some has to have changed the rears before.

I just replaced all four on my C5 Z06 racecar. Of the people I trust, the only unit recommended over and over were the true GM part numbers for just the tie rod ends. I don't mind paying for quality parts and these seem to be better than the aftermarket units, included AC Delco.

This is the part number I installed on the rear. Available through GM Parts Direct and Amazon;

Genuine GM 88955488 Suspension Adjust Link End Kit, Rear

Totally agree over quality parts. Just don't want to buy the same GM crap tie rod ends. Wondering if there was anything else out there. I just went back to my car and ripped off the torn bushing. Inspected the inside of the tie rod ends and everything looked good, just needs new bushings/dust covers. I just ordered some Energy Suspension bushings 9.13101R. Should be here by Tuesday.

I'll kick this one again ....

How much play in the rears is acceptable??

I have an HPDE coming up in two weeks and was mounting the fresh NT01's / PFC's and going through the car. Damn, I can feel some play in the left rear. Is it a fix or don't go to the track type of urgency?

Whats the current thinking - Moog, OEM, or LG Bump steer? I don't necessarily need a bump steer kit but if its something that I should install I will.

Thanks!

A smidge of play might be fine, but you will have to make that call. I just replaced all four of mine on my ST2 car and went with GM replacements. I have the barest of interference with my Penske coilovers and did not see the need for a bump steer kit to clear something that only touches at full droop. The GM ends are as good or better than anything out there.

Think I'll give it a shot and see if I can get it done in time. If not, I'll just pay attention to anything feeling funny in the back end.

Moogs are a lot cheaper. My OEM's are original 2000 but the car only has $25k miles and several HPDE's.

I changed the fronts and rears over xmas. Despite having all of the various specs for the rears, i couldnt cross reference a part number for rear tied rods made by moog. I ordered some rears (greasable) from detroit. I noted that the rears were actually longer than stock rears. This equated to five extra turns when installing. They made a huge difference

I have one badly worn too. Left rear, funny, I just replaced the Left front, but both RH side outer tie rods are fine. (Yes I'm being cheap and only replacing the bad ones... Trying to save for HP Tuners )

Not available from MOOG, NONE listed;
http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com..._corvette_2001

Nothing for the rear at RockAuto

Discontinued aftermarket; http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1997-2004.html

Looks like the OEM GM is the ONLY available option; example; http://www.gmpartscenter.net/oe-gm/88955488

What about these? They say they have extended thread bosses, anyone think we can get away with using them in the rear?
