Default V8 StockCar Series Adds Charlotte Motor Speedway to 2011 Schedule

Naples, Fl
February 24, 2011

The V8 StockCar Road Racing Series has added a racing weekend at world famous Charlotte Motor Speedway to the 2011 Schedule. The V8 racers will take to the high banks of CMS on August 20 & 21, a racing weekend co-sanctioned by the North Carolina and Central Carolina Regions of the Sports Car Club of America. V8 Series President, Lee Arnold, stated that "when we heard about the opportunity to race with the Carolina Regions at CMS, we jumped at it."
The top speed for the V8 Series cars at Charlotte will likely rival even those at Daytona as Charlotte has no chicane down the back straight like DIS.
Charlotte Motor Speedway's 24 degree high banks have seen INDY Cars, the IMSA Camel GT series, American Lemans Series, IROC, and of course NASCAR's Sprint Cup, NationWide Series, and Camping World Trucks. The V8 Series fully expects a great turnout with our Florida and Georgia contingent taking on the a host of racers from the Carolina's, Virgina, West Virginia, Tennessee and more.

We have four classes of high horsepower stock cars and GT machines they are:

Porterfield GT-1's: SCCA GT-1 &Trans Am cars as well as Grand Am Rolex GT machines
LG Motorsports GT-2's: SCCA GT-2, STO, T1, Grand Am Continental/Koni cars
Howe Racing GTA's: SCCA GTA stock cars
PitBoxes.com SPO's: high horsepower late models and ex Nascar Cup, Nationwide, and ARCA cars

For more information about competing with V8 StockCar at Charlotte, contact Lee Arnold at Lee at V8stockcar.com

The Charlotte weekend will replace the cancelled June weekend at Atlanta Motorsports Park.

That'll be worth seeing. What's the format? Which day is better, Sat or Sunday?

Is it open to the public?

Not sure if it is a spectator event for the Regions, but most if not all regions of SCCA allow guests of the region even when it is not. I will update as more becomes available.

I surely hope this is open to spectators. It will be a shame if not.
