This was my solution. The first vent begins at the edge of the radiator opening.

What kind of temp drop did you see after doing this?

**** [offtopic a bit] From the FWIW dept: I installed these louvers on my hood thinking it'd drop temps, but it had negligible, if any, effect on coolant temps. I removed the radiator and had it boiled out, and that dropped temps significantly (20-25*).

I've since gone to this hood, but it's more for "lift" issues than cooling. I didn't notice any help in cooling with it, but I changed the whole front end so that's probably not a fair analysis.

It's been so long I don't recall specifics. But before doing it, my temps were causing me to constantly watch my revs/gauges. This was my primary reason for doing it and since then, my temps have no longer been an issue and run in normal range.

I dunno about Ecklers, I bought it from an individual who had it on a street car. Yes, I cut open the vents (not very neatly, mind you) and made it functional. I should have had the guy who does my body work do it, he's much more professional, but I thought I could do it easily.

I post some pictures later of the underside of the hood.

This is what I did. Could have done one all the way across, but it would have required lots of shrinking/stretching and would have looked a bit funny. Not to mention the intake is in the middle so it would block airflow anyway.

Do you have a link or any contact information to where you got these or any company that makes similar vents? I want to do the ACP World Challenge hood...but for right now with my budget this seems like a GREAT budget way of doing it before I can buy the ACP one.

Are they fiberglass or actually carbon fiber?

HRPWorld

They sell a wide and narrow (i have the narrow) version. Carbon Fiber with Kevlar on the bottom (Kevlar is heat/fire resistant)

It's laughable but i will tell you that i used 68 button head bolts to secure them against the contour of the hood lines.

It's the baby splitter ecklers sells to attach to their nose. We'll be extending it an inch or so in the next couple of weeks.
