Default Full-face helmets for eyeglass wearers

Going to consider a full-face helmet this year from years of wearing an open face (my old Bell Mag 4) and it will have to be something that will accommodate eyeglasses. I have to wear prescription glasses and also have prescription sunglasses.

Looking at SA2010 helmets like the Bell Sport, Bell M4 or Pyrotech Pro Airflow Full Face. Any ideas/recommendations? I do mostly autocross event but also a few track days each year.

I have used the Bell M4 for several years. It is very comfortable and the eye opening is wide and tall enough to wear glasses comfortably. You have to put on the helmet and then the glasses.

I use the Bell M4Pro, it's lighter and works very well with my glasses.

I use a full face G-Force - ProForce I believe - and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I also wear Rx glasses and was interested in a fairly wide field of vision. I use a tinted shield since my Transitions lenses don't work in the car. I just picked up a Rx sunglasses, so I try those w/a clear shield. The inner helmet pads are designed to accomodate the eyeglass stems, to some degree. Some of the higher end helmets you are considering may be lighter - which is a definite advantage.

Find a full face that fits properly and you can't go wrong!

Looks like Pyrotect has 6 different faceshield tints available, clear, light smoke, dark smoke, blue, amber and a chrome reflective shield.

Because my sunglasses have a different frame design and the lenses are smaller, going with a tinted shield makes a lot of sense.

Mine is a RCI helmet and I’ve been pretty happy with it over the years. I don’t wear prescription glasses but it accommodates my sun glasses just fine. I believe they offer tinted shields as well.

One thing I did find with mine is that I lose the polarization affect of my sunglasses when I put the shield down.

I have now gotten a smoked and silvered shield and most times don't wear my sunglasses anymore.

I wish somebody would come up with a polarized shield for the helmets.

I looked quite a while for a helmet like what you want and settled on the Simpson Voyager. Good helmet, plenty of room for my sunglasses which are wider than my prescription glasses and the wide eye port gives really good peripheral vision.

Bell Sport for a few years. As a previous poster said, your have to put the helmet on first, then the glasses. Sometimes it's a bit of a PIA!

I just replaced a Biefe with an HJC Ar-10 I usually put the helmet on about half way then my glasses then pull it down. both work fine.
now a question any body using tear offs? how much of beating does your visor actually take? would tearoffs be a good or bad idea?

+1 on the bell M4Pro.

A couple years ago Transitions came out with "Drivewear" lenses, they are sunglasses and don't go clear. But they change colors for different light conditions and work behind windshields.

I've used them 2+ years and love them. They work fine with my helmit shield.
