A good excuse to call in sick - East Coast Supercharging HPDE Day at NJMP
Come out and Join ECS at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Monday July 25th for a HPDE Day run by the folks at NJMP on Thunderbolt Raceway.
Many of you guys have joined us for our HPDE days over the past few years, and I think you'll agree when I say these are typically well run, fun events with tons of track time for every run group - and they even toss in a good lunch. Joe Mills, and the guys from Hooked on Driving have always done a great job running a safe and well organized event for us. In past years I've personally logged more than 4hrs of on track time in a single day - so rest up!!!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with NJMP's Thunderbolt Raceway, it's the track of choice for the Grand-Am Rolex Series as well as the ARCA series cars...its 2.25 miles, with 14 turns. I think its a great track for folks of all levels.
Here's a little vid from last year....
So come on out.... Doug, Chris and I will be instructing.... It should be a great day!!!!!!
Register on line at www.hookedondriving.com/ecs
And register early.... we filled up last year and a number or "regulars" (or irregulars, depending on your perspective) got left out. So register soon.
See you at the track!
Mike

There were 3-4 out that day. We all held our own. I think it was the 2nd day NJMP was open.
Those owners had some serious coin, but were all really cool. Much better than some of the other guys who thought buying a Ferrari also made you a good driver

Thumbs up to this event! ECS and HOD put on a CLASS event! I've been instructing this one the last couple years, if all works out, hope to be back this year. Just can't say enough about both groups, the amount of track time and the quality put into the effort are superb.
Doug, I would be glad to trade you the guy with 700rwhp again if the opportunity comes up :-) LOL!!!

This is the sick note I would use
Dear Boss,
I have been very sick but my Dr. has me on track to a full recovery.
I am hoping for a very fast recovery.

I dont believe Millville has any noise restrictions as its located on the grounds of the airport.
But that said there is and has been a group from Milville that has been trying to get a noise restriction instituted. (trackracket) But to my knowledge there hasnt been any changes.
We doing well with registrations so far so thanks you all who have already signed up - and those who havent, try to do so soon... I hope to fill this day and add one more if possible....but I have to get this one filled first!

Guys, just a heads up. There is a new law in NJ that any motorsports event requires the use of a full face helmet (this includes HPDE). So keep this in mind for any event in NJ.

And the roll bar regs:
BTW, following is the NJ Code 62 language regarding Roll Bars:
§ 13:62-4.12 Rollover bars
(a) All vehicles shall be equipped with a rollover bar of a
design, construction and quality recognized by industry standard
and maintained with a view toward affording the driver
maximum protection against injury. Roll bar/cage padding
meeting SFI specification 45.1 is mandatory anywhere a driver's
helmet or body may come in contact with roll bar/cage
components. SFI 45.1, incorporated herein by reference, as
amended and supplemented and available at http://www.
sfifoundation.com. SFI roll bar/cage padding standards are
available from the SFI Foundation, Inc. 15708 Pomerado Road,
Suite N208, Poway, CA 92064.
(b) Rollover bars shall measure a minimum distance of
three inches between the top of the driver's helmet and the
bottom of the roll bar measured at the closest point between the
two when the driver is seated and belted in place.
(c) Rollover bars shall be bolted or welded to the frame of
the vehicle.

You know, out of all the sh&t we have in this state and our economy, taxes, corruption, it amazes me that they are wasting our money and time on stupid bills such as this. This total waste of time bill represents like .00000001% of the population and drivers of extreme sports know the risks of their respective sport and should be self accountable. NJ has better things to do that tell us we need full face helmets (even though I have one and agree).
They need to fix all the other BIG problems we have or we are headed for bankruptcy. Bunch of douch bags!

Barry is a good driver, he can handle the power pretty well so he's not too scary, but we might have one or two new guys with big power, we'll have to see how they manage!

The bylaws come from a division of the NJSP not from our government body. Their responsibility is to keep us safe on the track which I believe they try to do. I rather have 1 organization who attends all of the events and is actively involved with the sport make decisions what is safe than a bunch of bureaucrats make a decision based on what lobbyists paid the most.

Number one key to being smooth is looking far ahead. Also squeeze and dont stomp on the gas brake. And slow hands.
That track looks like fun. I'll have to visit my relatives in NJ soon.
