Default Carbotechs, what compound???

I'm thinking of changing pads.

What about Carbotechs?

From what I understand they are somewhat rotor friendly, is that right?

What kind of wear should I expect?

What compound?

How expensive are they?

What tires are you on?

What tracks do you run?

How much power do you make?

Lets see what Carbotech says, but Im going to say XP20 front and XP10 or XP12 rear.

Good on rotors, very good bite and longer lasting than XP16s.

I'm running XP10s all the way around, but I'm only running TOYO 888s 275s & 305.

On 12's I tripled my rotor life over DTC70's.

I just switched to XP20s front (from XP16s) based on magnetic1's advice. I loved the XP16s (R6s, 480 rwhp, 2800 lbs) and I was impressed with how much better the initial bite on the XP20s are (is?).

I'm looking forward to the longer life. I'm still on the first set of pads. Modulation and fade resistance was about the same as XP16s so far. So far, I've only run them at VIR but Summit, NJMP and Watkins are all on the schedule for this year.

Hey Jody, Bob and I both run XP12 on the front and XP10 on the rear. I just ran the SCCA Double National at Road Atlanta this weekend and Chris Ingle was there with the Carbotech Owner and Chris tried the XP16 on the front but went back to the XP12 to save some money and says he gets enough bite with the XP12.

You will like them.

I make 490 rwhp and 3115lbs and use to run the XP12 front and XP10 rear with R6's. This is more than enough for what you are looking for. Going to a 16 is racing bleeding edge and not going to pay dividends in HPDE, you want a pad that will last a while and stop. The combination I mention has brought me several all out time trial wins.

Jody, I've been using the XP12's for the fronts and XP10's for the rears. They've worked well for me and have good life. They are easy on the rotors for the most part. I'm giving their new XP20's a shot and see how well they do for CMP coming up.

I had been using the 12/10 combo for a year and then went to 10/8s. Cracked 4 rotors in 6 track days last summer, put on R888s and 3 track days ( 2 at VIR and 1 RD Atl) and zero cracked rotors - .

After what Waddisme posted, I'm not so sure.

I had to go back to the WW "H's" and love the bite and stopping ability, but I'd forgotten I need to replace rotors after every couple of track days.

My long term goal is to get the rotor rings and hats Eric Wong sells, along with some friendlier pads.

I'll try the 12/10 combination and see how that works at first. Then advance from there.

Yep. I have the Wilwood H. I think the trade is rotor life vs pad life. The Wil H last forever. The Carbos I've heard can be eaten up from new in a weekend. Rotors are cheap by comparison.

Carbos last as well as Hawks. They all taper.
