Still want to do the ARRC this year in Nov, might do the July event to feel things out. Talked to Rob B. at the NASA weekend about where a PTA Z06 would slot in ITE/ITO (whatever the SE goes by). The NASA classes just don't line up well with the SCCA stuff. It would take too long to put it back to T1 spec for 1 weekend.

It does seem like there is a dark cloud over your head but when it is right you go like a bat out of hell. Did you see how tight the T1 field was last week? Think again abouit a ls7 vs a built motor with good crank & rods. What broke in your motor?

Damn Bob, if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all!

Hopefully, the good karma starts working as the season progresses.

Forget about ITE/ITO...its dead in the SE. And you are right....way too hard to go back to T1 and not worth it. You will tire of NASA soon enough. COme race a SARRC (SCCA regional event) in STO. You will be very suprised at how well you will do!! You then can have a goal as to how to develop the car. I've watched you guys drive the **** out of those corvettes!!!!! You'll do fine! .

It was nice to finally see a T1 field with some cars in it and some good racing....kinda like when I raced T1. Chris was pissed that he actually had to stay around and race. (just kidding Chris)

Don't know what broke in the engine yet. I have 2 sister Katech(consectutively numbered) motors for the car.....but based on the competition I think its time too step up a notch.

Not sure yet.....Onks, Lewis all have LS7's and they walk away from me on the straights. I turned a 1.28.4, and Jerry came right back in the next session with a 1.28.1. Jerry was giving me someengine ideas....gonna have to look into this.

I'd love to cross over as well, but know nothing about SCCA. Why do you say NASA will get old?

And wouldn't STO be more like ST1 with NASA? We'd get murdered.

Scott....I'm not sure what you can and can't do in PTA, so I'm not sure how developed your cars are. But here are the qualifying and race times from the sat. national race....pretty diverse. The 1.36's you guys ran would be respectable.

Class STO
65537 9 Jerry Onks 18 28:18.494 1:32.386 3 (QUALIFY 1.28.103)
65538 47 Edward Lewis 17 27:14.516 1 Lap 1:33.609 (Q 1.32.622)
65539 53 Tom Wilson 17 27:53.738 39.222 1:34.268 (Q 1.33.651)
65540 45 George Corso 16 28:42.074 2 Laps 1:41.480(Q 1.43.201)
65541 2 Marty Grand 15 27:19.319 3 Laps 1:46.178 (Q dnq)
65542 38 Bob Mayer 9 14:39.783 9 Laps 1:34.914 7 (Q 1.29.293)
DNF 58 CJ Moses 0 34.244 18 Laps --:--:--.--- 0 (Q 1.46.232)

May 21 there is a regional and national race at RA. (not sure how that works) July 16/17 there is a double SARRC at RA> (regional race).
Now that you guys have your license come out and race a SCCA race. Try it, see how it compares. It really is a whole difference experience, one that the racer in you guys will enjoy. I think it will help you in deciding what and where to go with your cars.
I think you will tire of NASA because you guys are racers and the BS that you have to deal with w/NASA will annoy you. There are too many cars on the track, in too many diverse classes(there was a 40 sec. differential in all the thunder cars). All NASA cares about is keeping to the schedule (do you not remember the heated debates between racers and TT'ers the time Thunder had a 2 lap race!!!) SCCA is just a different experience. Try it, you guys have the talent...........the cars will come. Don't get me wrong, right now I would do everything you can afford. But try SCCA (its right in your backyard) and make your own decision.
If I can help, let me know.

Bob

Thanks Bob. Our cars are really way underdeveloped for STO, but it would be fun to give it a shot. My car in particular is bone stock other than T1 bars, headers, Spec clutch, poly control arm bushings, delrin shock bushings and weight reduction. Minimum comp weight is 3121 and it makes a whopping 346 rwhp.
That's a massive 9.02 pw/wt ratio at the END of the race.
It would be hard for me to justify the entry fees and using up tires and brakes just to get stomped, but I've done dumber things in my life.

I've looked for the 2011 STO rules, but I can't find it. Every SCCA rules link I find is so cluttered with SOLO stuff that it's hard to make heads or tails of anything. Can you post a good link that I can study?
