Default Installed Michlins Slicks today

I have a 2009 Z06

Tire sizes are as follows:
Fronts are 27/68 18
Rears 31/71 18

Fronts are rubbing and no way it will work. It is just too big for the wheel well

Rears are measuring around 28" and I'm worried about the acceleration now since it is a taller tire. It is like installing a 3.10 gears which I'm sure will hurt acceleration out of the corners.

What is the suggested size to go with? I'm thinking 27/65/18 and 30/65/18. Is there such a size?

I'm running the LG Suspension so I was able to adjust the height.

Here is the Michelin Racing Tire Catalog:

They seem to recommend the 30/65-18 up front with the 31/71-18 that you are running in the rear.

How would the acceleration be with a 28" tire? I bet the car will be slower.
Anyone out there tried the 26" and 28" back to back?

I have looking at these as well, but decided to go with hoosiers again. I too was worried about fitment since I have not seen any one else run these tires. Per the michelin catalog the make a 27/65-18 and a 30/65-18 both of which are close in overall height w hoosiers, kumhos, etc...25.5" & 25.7" respectively.

based on specs these would seem to size out about like a "305" & a "320"/30x18 in a DOT type size.

I went round and round with a michelin engineer last year sayng I should run the 31/71 on the rear but at an overall height of 27.9" was worried I wld have to run VERY tall ride height...

I still may order a set later this season bt will try and keep the overall heights the same...another problem is where to buy them...have only found 2 places...subie sports and a site called bowmanized. Where did u get yours?

Jadkins,
FWIW, I bought my 4-wheel Brembo kit from Mike Bowman at Bowmanized in the spring of '09.

Part way through that summer I stripped the threads on a caliper bracket while changing to track pads just before an upcoming HPDE. Called Mike on a Saturday and had the replacement bracket in my hands within 72 hrs (I live in Canada). I haven't dealt with him since as I haven't had to order anything else.

His is a first class operation.

On page 10 of the catalog, Michelin talks about the advantages of the taller diameter for the rear tires. I suppose everyone running these tall tires have adjusted their ride height to compensate.

I want to get some of these but I am concerned about my front wheel width. I got a set of Forgeline GA3R 18" wheels for my ZR1. The fronts are 10.5" wide. Do you think I can run a 30/65 on this wheel?

My rears are 13" and the 31/71 should work fine.

Maybe I should go with 29/65 on the front with this width wheel? Problem is I cannot find 29/65. What about 27/65 for the front?

Frankly, anyone who is running 31/71 slicks without extensive modifications to their wheel wells is wasting their money. What I mean is that if 28 inch tall tires aren't ripping your liners out and getting into the tub, then either you're suspension is so far from optimized you'd be better off spending your money and effort there, OR you aren't driving the car hard enough to warrant slicks.

345-35-18 Hoosiers, with the right suspension setup and 700# springs, driven hard enough will necessitate removal of the fender liners, and they are an inch and a half shorter.
